Like this car, thanks for making and sharing this video. I’d keep it all original and get it back to top condition. That pant can be corrected and rust repaired properly without a total repaint! Let me know when you’re ready to sell her…. I’ll give her a good home!

I love the car and it's so hard to find them original. I think if you keep it that way you'll be happy. Not everything has to be a hot rod. I would make it a reliable daily driver

$230!!! Dude you stole it! Awesome car, I'd go with the plum crazy since there is a little body work. Hope all goes good with whatever you do. I would keep the slant six, they're indestructible and your wallet will thank you :-)

Love the old '73 bumper. Chrysler used up the last of the '73 bumpers on the early build '74's.

My first car was a 74 plymouth Duster Red with black vinyl roof. I blew up the slant 6 3 times. think the slant 6 worked better with the automatic trany.. I beleive the car was about $3100 USD. Thanks for sharing !

Nice Clifford Rice: I have a 1974 as well that I found in a barn shed in Fruita, Colorado in 2012. I stuck and modified a low mile roller cammed 360 out of a 1990 Ram. (LA-360's were roller cammed from factory from 1988-1992, Magnum 360's were all roller cammed). I also got a hold of a A999 Automatic transmission (A904 transmission on steroids and wide ratio gears), rebuilt it, beefed it up. I've been daily driving mine for several years now. MPG's isn't too bad 15-17 mpg. (once I get overdrive with the A500 I'm rebuilding I should get it into the 20's easily). And yes do not paint the engine bay black. I did that once, and at every car show nearly half the Mopar crowd would tell me to paint it the body color or: "You must been a Chevy owner at one time". (which I did, but only 1 Chevy, I've had 3 dodge trucks before), but at least they were cool about it. I've learned a lot about mine when I put mine together since then, if you have any questions about what performance route to take let me know, I can provide what tidbits of info I have.

DUDE, $238.00 DOLLARS FOR THAT CAR IS A SWEET DEAL! I AM SO GLAD FOR YOU!!! ALSO ENVIOUS!!! I LIKE SPEED & PERFORMANCE SO, I WOULD ADD A V-8 BUT, THE PAINT, I WOULD KEEP IT ORIGINAL! ONLY STOCK ONCE! YOU COULD WRAP IT WITH A PLUM PURPLE COLOR WRAP & MAINTAIN THE ORIGINAL PAINT! STRIP THE INTERIOR & CLEAN IT & ALLOW IT TO DRY AS YOU CLEAN THE CAB & TRUNK TO A FLAWLESS SHINE & ONLY THEN AFTER CLEANING ALL INTERIOR PARTS WOULD I REINSTALL THE INTERIOR!!! ID LOOK FOR A USED HELLCAT OR DEMON DRIVETRAIN OR SIMPLY A "LS" MOTOR

You can now buy 6 cyl to V8 conversion motor mounts, also the stick shift in the floor is a real plus and ups the value on these cars.

If you were to do an engine swap, you wouldn't have to change the k frame. Schumacher makes motor mounts that allow you to swap without changing the k frame. You should check out >>> classicindustries.com

Leave it original that 225 is indistructable if the body was worse I’d say do a motor swap but the car is in good shape leave it and don’t paint engine bay that would look gay

Why don't you pressure wash the engine bay & the underside of that Duster? It's in nice condition & deserves to be preserved!!!! Just like when people go mudding, the mud rust out everything, the dirt layer from the flood will destroy that car! Please pressure wash everything & wipe it all down with a rag & bucket, Get her shining!!!

I have had a few dusters the one I have now I've had it for 35 years it has a 318 that I built up like a 340 yes the six-cylinder motor is practically indestructible but its seriously under powered the 0 to 60 time is pathetic and dangerous

Nice Duster, your car, your call but man there only original once.. And please don't paint the engine bay black that's just not a MoPar thing... Unless the whole car is black
@CliffordRice
@CliffordRice 6 жыл бұрын
jbmopar1971 why is everyone so against that. I see it that on a lot old cars going to car shows, engine bays are always black and i always like it. In my opinion it's makes the engine stand out, when it's painted up and some chrome on it. Then again that's my opinion.
@jbmopar1971
@jbmopar1971 6 жыл бұрын
Clifford Rice like I mentioned, your call, your call. It all depends on what you want. From what I know of in the mopar world the engine bay is the cars color, cause that's just how ma mopar made them. There are a bunch out there painted black, flat black, whatever and they do look cool, but it's kind of a telltale sign that someone who isn't keen on mopars might have done work on it. Is that bad? Not at all, but in my experiences there might be some other issues that someone who isn't as familiar with mopars might not have overlooked. And of course I'm not saying you, just in general. Yours is cooler in a way, history wise since it was your uncles, and you know the history of the car. That's why at least in your scenario it would be a shame to loose the history. Plus there was a time when A body's were dismissed since they're not usually big block or hemi cars, and that time is kinda gone. The next one is going to be the oddity of a slant 6 over another run at a "clone" car. 😃at the end of the day, you get to choose what you want to do, make it look how you want and what makes you happy. Many miles to you and your cool Duster! I can't wait to get my 71 back on the road this summer. First time in 20 years lol
