1975 Suzuki GT185 Adventuer

First bike I ever had, bought on HP on my 17th birthday, summer of '75. Same colour as this. Mine had the 'drop' bars, though. I think the price new was £435. Had to pay for it over 2 years. Did a lot of miles and burns on that baby. Only issue I had with it was the exhaust baffles, which broke up within about 6 months. Made so much noise you could hear me coming 3 miles away! It had a little bag of tools under the seat - a couple of open-end spanners and a plug spanner.

Some versions of this bike had a fatal engine flaw. The oil dipstick mounted in the rubber stopper could vibrate into the path of the primary gearset and be ground away. The steel of the dipstick wears away in ~1,000 miles and the bottom of the stick drops into the trans. Before that the transmission is full of metal dust. I image that a bike that you would find would likely have had the dipstick removed from the stopper. Wonderful bike to ride, but ...

at 17 I bought a new TS100 and often borrowed a Honda CB250 then a mate bought this bike I had a go on it and couldn't believe how fast it was, he had microns, skimmed head, Wiseco HP pistons, up jetted, K&N pod filters, great bike,

Great bike when you are 4' 10" tall and it was before the cruiser bikes.

I've got a 73 front hub brake with all the patina of the last 22 years in a shed. Build number 185. Engine and frame gt185 10185. Serial number start 10001.

That was my first bike I spent a entire summer harvesting hay and bought it I was 14 and thought It was the coolest thing in the world you could get a MC license at 14 back then in Alabama.I drove all over the south What are you asking for it $$ ? Thanks
