Nice to see it running sweetly, hope it gets some use next year till it returns next winter for its body-off chassis restore and paint refresh once you’ve got the 2 GT6s finished and gone from the garage. And the other TR6 gone from your main workplace !

Elin, Did you do a cam break-in procedures to marry the flat solid lifter to the cam lobes? If not why, as I will be assembling my TR6 motor in the spring and would like to know. Thanks
@RustyBeauties3 жыл бұрын
I think this procedure applies to new camshaft only. Here all the parts worked together before and don't need to be re-married. It is my opinion, might be wrong.
@davidmarshall58103 жыл бұрын
@@RustyBeauties Sorry Elin, I missed that in the video that it was not a new cam and lifters in that you were using your old ones. As meticulous as you are an organized I’m sure you put all the lifters/tappits back in the original positions. Thanks for getting back to me and clearing this up. Your videos have helped me a lot in restoring my TR6 and the Spitfire. Just to let you know my spitfires in 1980 and the bumpers have been removed and I put bumpers on from a 1974. Chrome looks so much better. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Dave

Brilliant series, but did you remove the washer from the pressure relief valve and if so did it reduce the oil pressure? Regards Muttley.
@RustyBeauties3 жыл бұрын
Yes, and the pressure dropped to about 70
@tombrown74493 жыл бұрын
The air in the line will compress to what ever the oil pressure is, hence you have 100 psi of air at your impact wrench. just saying

Concluding another very nice serie !... What about a final Part 25 with Trevor bringing back his car to show the cosmetics up to final standard ?
@davefloyd41722 жыл бұрын
Elin great job do you sell these cars?
@markrobinson85393 жыл бұрын
I believe that the oil pressure relief valve should be at 95 PSI. When I rebuilt my 1972 TR6 in 1984 the oil pressure when cold was about 95 PSI as well. I don't think air in the oil pressure gauge line will matter, as the air will compress and still read the correct pressure.
@RustyBeauties3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was just a guess on our side about the air in the line :) Turned out we were wrong
@markrobinson85393 жыл бұрын
Yes if you think about it, a pressure gauge works fine on air pressure lol In the heat of the moment it is easy to latch onto a theory that is wrong. I think the oil pressure relief value is given in the data section of the British Leyland shop manual. I will see if I can find my manual today. I bought a King 10kW electric heater for my garage but delivery is taking a long time. I recently added two 44 inch and one 26 inch US General rolling tool cabinets from Harbor Freight. I got the 3 units at around the same price as one of the big 72 inch models. Take a look at them. It would enhance your shop.

Will Trevor paint the fender himself? That'll rust really quickly if it stays bare. Would be a shame if the car rusted even more than already :(
@RustyBeauties3 жыл бұрын
Yes, he is planning to paint the entire car at some point.
