I have a yellow '75 that has been strippped of it's lights but it is a great bike for playing around on offroad. Very good power for a 40 year old small bore bike on it's original top end! My '74 parts bike has a rebuilt motor too so Im not worried about the motor too much. Both have tons of compression. I might have to find the lights and put it on the road some day.

I wonder why Yamaha decided to paint this bike red in some countries and blue in others. This looks like France maybe? Mine was blue here in Utah, U.S.A., same year same bike. It was the only color they came in that year. I did notice that the bike in the video doesn't have remote reservoirs for the rear shocks like ours did here in the US. I really miss that bike. In 1975 the DT 250 was red here. I once drove mine to junior high school when I was 14. I parked it next to the woodshop all day. Didn't get caught, didn't get in trouble.

I have been browsing online for a used bike to buy myself with my $1800 Dollar Refund Check from the Government and I came across one of these Yamaha DT 175's for $1,400 Bucks. It only has 2400 Miles on it and there is nothing wrong with it except it needs a new back tire. I'm seriously debating if I should buy it or not. I have a feeling if I don't grab it soon it will be sold if I wait much longer. Always liked the old school Yamaha Bikes. :)

Had a dt125 at 13 up. What is the up on the 175. .
@micoumeekoo6 жыл бұрын
Hello. The only difference between the 125 and the 175 is a 10 mm larger piston. Invisible, but it brings a lot more fun to ride. Same size and same weight bikes, but the bonus on the power and the torque makes the 175 a very pleasant bike and very efficient on tight roads and trails.

what oil do you use for your oil injected two strokes?
@micoumeekoo7 жыл бұрын
Hello. I use a standard two stroke mineral oil, no synthetic oils. The lubricants are now by far better than the ones we use 40 years ago.
@Meowbox90007 жыл бұрын
so do you use the mineral oil to keep with the times or because there is some negative effect of the modern oil? i only ask because last year i ran Kawasaki race synthetic and was blowing a lot of it out the tail pipe unless i ran hard. and i mean hard. 1976 ke175.

What is better; a dt 125 (same year) or a Kawasaki KDX 175
@micoumeekoo6 жыл бұрын
Hello. If you intend to ride off-road, the KDX will offer by far more performance. The frame and very long travel suspensions are more modern -1980 - than a simple on-off road bike like the 1975 Yamaha DT. And a 175 engine is more fun than a modest 125. The KDX 175 is a real off road competition bike compared to the poor suspensions of the Yamaha..
@gavinmastervick40226 жыл бұрын
Ah, thank you. I plan on doing both on and off road. How would you rate the KDX's on road capabilities?

Hi. Sorry but I can't help you more, I never rode a KDX.

Can you bolt a 175 jug to a 125 cc motor
@micoumeekoo6 жыл бұрын
Hello. Yes, the 125 and 175 DT's are exactly the same bike, apart from a 10 mm bigger piston. You have to find a cylinder, a piston and a cylinder head and that's done. Small change but it makes a new very fun bike.

Sometimes I can pick the sound of a sequence and stick it to another one, but it is not always possible or realistic. Sorry about this technical problem.
