Bert Jones completed 60% of his passes that season in an era that didn’t favor QBs. He was GREAT.

Yet another great Colts team. Overlooked by many. But remembered as a team that could hold its own against the dominant Dolphins, Fairbanks-led Patriots and OJ-powered Bills.

I Love this piece. Today's most millennial NFL fans don't know what Football is. I recall this Super Colts teams of 75-76 and watched them, tons of good and super players, Jones, Carr, Lydel Mitchell, Then Looney Tunes (DL). I ran into this clip piece today from Yahoo, now Im going to keep this clip. JONES - there was so many hopes and so Fn unfortunate that shoulder injury derailed his career, so many what if's for me. Not enough said of this era 1975-76 team that should had been and should had become, but Fn Life messed with Jones (shoulder) as it is with me on recent passing of my pretty Gf very much wife. Thank you PAL 6363, for putting this together. Sincerely NFL fan first and Raider fan second. I'm 53.

Thank you PAL 6363 for the upload. The '75, '76 and '77 teams were some of my favorite Colts teams. I was age 13, 14 and 15 at the time. Of course, now I am 56 and a diehard Indy Colts fan. I had to move with the team when it left Baltimore. Still love the city, but I love Indy and that horseshoe even more. Thanks again for the upload!!

Unfortunately the Colts would have one more winning season in 1977 and that was that. Gone by 1984 Baltimore Colts football gave us plenty to be proud of, and the Ravens just continue the foundation laid by the Colts. Gone, but never forgotton.

Dick Szymanski,the Baltimore Colts GM at the time of this film,was a former star linebacker and center (1955,1957-68). He was a member of the 1958 and 1959 World Championship teams and also a member of the Colts first Super Bowl team of 1968.

No other QB is mentioned more favorably by Bill Belichick (Belicheat) than Bert Jones. Belichick (Belicheat) served on Marchibroda’s staff. Colts were good in the 70’s... they just get overlooked because they had the misfortune of being in the same conference with the Steelers, Raiders, & Dolphins who pretty much won all the Super Bowls in the decade
@davidmahan40004 жыл бұрын
So Bill Belichick did see Steve Grogan play during his heyday period (19761986; Steve did have decent seasons in 1987 & 1988. Any season you sweep the Miami Dolphins is at least, a decent season! 1986 was great! PATRIOTS beat Miami 3 times in the same calendar YEAR, including the AFC Championship game & the final game in Orange Bowl history on 12/22/1986 34 to 27! Nice place to spend the winter solstice! 😃)

Baltimore was obviously one of the four best teams in the AFC that season -- the other three being New England, Oakland and Pittsburgh. In my opinion any one of them would have easily defeated the Vikings in Super Bowl 11. But if the Cowboys had not choked against the Rams in the playoffs, the SB would've actually been *competitive* regardless of who Dallas played. At least the game wouldn't have been *over by halftime.*
@spryfolII5 жыл бұрын
The Colts Achilles Heel in the playoff years was the poorest secondary. The Colts could score no doubt, but we knew come playoff time if the secondary didnt get physical and step up, it would be over fast. So the 75-77 Colts were 0-3 in the playoffs.
