1976 was fairly early on in what had become a van craze in the USA. By 1980 it was in full swing, and vans were coming through with some pretty wild paint jobs and some very nice interiors with more elaborate styling, and there were a lot of accessories available. As well, "Van" shops had popped up catering to the market.

Good van. They were everywhere in the 70s n 80s. They were very reliable no matter the engine size. My cousin had a 77 ext similar with the 318. The odometer broke at 360,000 miles but it kept on truckin. Still ran great when he sold it with approx 400,000 miles on it!

Tradesman Vans were and still are reliable. As the second owner, I had my 75 B100's 318 rebuilt for the first time in 2020, .030 over Speed Pro replacement Pistons, headwork, rings, bearings and a mild juice cam. May not run like a 340, but it satisfies as a daily driver.

Back in the 70's thru early 80's my father and I used to customize new vans only for ourselves. Personally did a 73 Chevy and a 76 Chevy. I did do one last one w/an 89 Ford I bought new after 7 years away from them. Had a lot of fun w/them.

Reminds me a lot of my dad's home made camper van. Same year, same model but a 318.

I had a 1983 dodge shorty van with a slant 6 ive had a lot of dodges but that was the last one i had the a frame that held the steering componets was rusted i didnt know it it was a one owner public school van well i was on the freeway doing 80 made it home ok the next day pulling out of the driveway the whole front end componets caved in man was i lucky it didnt happen on the freeway.

My dad was a van hippie for a time in the 70s with his Econoline that he never quite finished modding. Had that gawdawful 70s fake wood paneling he applied over regular house insulation. Some shag carpet to complete the cliche. Can remember lots of rides and times in that van. Edit: didn’t even know this one was going to have the “shag” interior before I posted my comment. How funny.
