Willy Joe Rockhead. Earliest I have heard it was from an album of ww2 canteen songs. But a much more vulgar version I remember the lyrics being “fuck a little pig follow the band, follow the band with your cock in your hand”

It was a song long before the movie. A poem with words in roughly that format goes back to the 18th century, according to one thing I've read, and there's a similar version with different verses from WWII.

In the book, I remember descriptions of one boyfriend who wanted a sexless marriage, and one who wanted her to leave the country with him. But then, there are now people who insist she made it all up and was just an excellent actress. Reality is a tenuous thing.
