It's way better than the version they sold after '77... it could have passed everything if it wasn't for a barb in a trapway.
@OCC_Plumbing_and_RestorationsАй бұрын
Yeah. I think that extra 1 and 1/2 gallons really makes a difference.

This 5 Gal 1976 Kohler Wellworth (with the Waterguard bowl) is way better than the 3.5 Gal Wellworth Waterguard as it uses the old 5 Gal tank - obviously it would be better! Passed a washcloth easily and also passed a grocery bag with no trouble (although it got snagged on a barb at the trapway exit) which is great. It eventually took the washcloth along with the grocery bag separately but not together, and it failed (clogged) on the dishtowel but it actually took it into the trapway despite the trapway opening being small - which is better than the 3.5 Gal version! Siphoned out with a clogged siphon jet - great. The bowl clearance dirt test was perfect but the bowl rinse could be improved - not bad though. This is a decent toilet so it gets a 7/10 👍

I much prefer this to the later version that used the 3.5 gallon tank.

Even though the performance was sorta mid overall, that still honestly did better than I thought.

Yeah. Way better than the Waterguard version with the 3.5 gallon tank.

looks like the 5 gallon tank helped it a lot!
@OCC_Plumbing_and_RestorationsАй бұрын
It sure did.

I reckon you should have done the bag and washcloth one more time with the corner of both positioned to enter the trapway. It prolly would have passed. Only when swirlers twist the contents into a tight strand first do they pass, but sucking things down from the center of the object is too large for that trapway opening. This terlit flushes a lot better than the original AS elongated Cadet for sure. That elongated AS Compact was awesone though.

The swirly toilets really like taking everything from the center.

What’s the difference between this and the Water-Guard? They both look the exact same to be honest…
@cameraredeye3115Ай бұрын
This version uses 5 GPF; the Waterguard uses 3.5 GPF. Other than that, yeah they're pretty much the same model.

This a Water Guard (the bowl part is). It just has a mismatched tank
@toilets2themax3256Ай бұрын
@@darfieldzone5309i don’t think so, i mean, kohler used to use 5 gallons so maybe they designed the water-guard like this before 1977.
Mine hard clogged on a washcloth beacuse it has a half inch barb in the trap way.

Have you ever tested a British toilet?

The closest I've gotten is a Geberit Starck 3 but I unfortunately have never gotten the chance to own a British toilet.

It still baffles my mind to this day that Kohler made toilets that use 5 gallons, and have toilets that use 1.28 gallons that perform better. I am no fan of new toilets, but damn Kohler. These also had such ass quality control that every test video I have seen on one of these are so inconsistent to the last. Typical Kohler.
@OCC_Plumbing_and_RestorationsАй бұрын
Kohler has definitely stepped up their game on quality control. Back before the water restrictions, their quality control was garbage and even in the '60s, they had problems with the bases cracking. They were also outperformed by almost all the other name brands and even some of the generic brands. They may be able to take a lot now without clogging but put a little dirt in or some dye, and you're screwed.
