Thank you for doing this. Pete Rose is one of if not the premier hitter in ⚾️Baseball⚾️. Add to that, he played harder than anyone as evident by that All-Star game crash at Home Plate. Pete didn't like to lose, and back then the All-Star game had meaning. It wasn't just a exhibition to show off players "power". Pete's never give up, never say die attitude made him one of the biggest reasons Baseball became as popular as it's become. Yes he made a mistake, but his on-field performance is second to none. I really do think he deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame. I mean this guy has the most hits in ⚾️Baseball's⚾️ history, and that in itself deserves recognition. 🕊🙏RIP🙏🕊 🌹🌹Pete💐Rose🌹🌹your career had so many wonderful memories, unbelievable hits, iconic slides and crashes, and so many other legendary moments. he used a corked bat-in Montreal, Philadelphia, and for at least several years in Cincinnati. He needed to pad his statistics so he could get a good contract in free agency
@briannarivera661110 күн бұрын
@@bufnyfan1 An unreliable Montreal worker said that and there has been no proof he ever used one in a game. Been debunked for years now. Besides, the only time this was really first brought up was in Montreal when he was with the Expos and 42 years old and all his record-breaking bats have been found to be legit bats. Many of his bats are at the HOF even though he is not in there. Also, he took less money from the Phillies owner because he wanted to go to a place that was championship caliber already and looking for him as a final piece. Atlanta, KC & St. Louis offered more money plus bonuses, but he turned them down. KC was the only other place he might've went because at least Kaufmann almost convinced him that the AL had the DH and it would've been good for him.

Great job, as always Dave. Thank you. I grew up a massive fan of the Big Red Machine and _always_ played at 100 MPH. Whether it was baseball, softball, Wiffle ball, stick ball, whatever, I hustled 100% of the time. That came from watching how Pete Rose played. I also learned to switch-hit like Pete. He certainly had his issues off the field, but unlike today's players, Pete was never an idiot or prima donna ON the field. He didn't make mental mistakes. He didn't show off. And never gave anything except maximum effort on every single play. He didn't have exceptional speed, size or a particularly strong throwing arm, and yet through sheer will, he became one of the greatest pure ballplayers in Major League history.

Modern Baseball lacks the pop culture stars that resonate with the masses. Even if you weren’t a big Baseball fan back then, everyone knew who Pete Rose was, or Johnny Bench. That’s why the casual fan would tune in. Think about that era and guys like Reggie Jackson, Brett, Seaver, Nolan Ryan, even Managers like Billy Martin, Sparky Anderson and Earl Weaver. You look at today’s game and nobody in MLB resonates with pop culture. Ohtani should be the most popular athlete on par with Lebron and Brady and how many people outside of Baseball even know he had a 50/50 season? Judge hit 62 Homeruns a few years ago and it’s completely forgotten. The blame goes to guys like Selig and Manfred as they regionalized the game and it just doesn’t resonate nationally anymore.

@docadams70994 күн бұрын
But they won pennants in front of their home crowds in 1970, 1972, 1976, and 1990. 1972 was especially exciting, as the Pirates came close to winning that one. The Reds came back with two runs in the last of the 9th in the deciding game. First on Johnny Bench's home run ("Back goes Clemente ...) and then the wild pitch that scored Foster. The 1976 NLCS win was a big thrill, too, but there was no question the Reds would win that. 1990 saw the over-the-wall grab by Glenn Braggs and the absolute mastery of Eric Davis and the Nasty Boys.

Rose made a huge play in game 7 of the 1975 series. Boston up 3-0. 1 out Rose on first. Bench hits a sure double play but Rose wipes out the SS and he throws wildly to 1B. This allows Perez to homer next off Bill Lee to cut the score to 3-2. Had Pete not took out the SS. The Reds very likely would have lost game 7. It was said that had they lost to Boston. GM Bob Howman was ready to make major changes to the roster in the offseason. Its very possible had it not been for that play the Reds might have not won in 75 or 76. Since they won in 75. Howman kept the 76 team intact he wanted a repeat. That simple hard slide might be one of the biggest plays in Reds history.
