This is the 10/8/1977 Alabama at USC game. 77 was a strange year. Nebraska was upset at home by Washington State in its opener then #2 Alabama came to town favored. The Huskers beat back Bear Byrants team and sent a little more turmoil into the pollsters ballots. By the time this game rolled around USC had risen to #1. The week before USC had destroyed Washington State 41-7. Yes that same team that beat Nebraska. So here we are. USC is favored and it was Alabama's time to turn the tables on someone else. I think this game, more than any other propelled Alabama to New Heights. They would roll through the rest of this season and then win back to back titles in 78 and 79. Probably the peak of Bryants career. They did lose to USC the next season but it almost seemed like a bump in the road with their finishes in 78 and 79. I claim no rights. The end of this one is from Classic Sports.

I remember most of the old commercials it brings back memories of elementary school and watching the legendary players back when they were young. The world was a much better place back then.

As an Alabama fan, if I had to pick a list of the Tide's greatest wins, this one would definitely rank in the top 5. Just a tremendous performance by the Crimson Tide. In his lifetime Coach Bryant was described as probably the greatest motivator the college game had ever seen. This game was an example of that.

Keith Jackson. College Football owes him a statue. What a great play by play professional.

Crimson had Ozzie Newsome; Trojans had Clay Matthews; Two No. 1 draft picks of the Cleveland Browns that next spring. Both should be in the HOF.

Interesting Alabama won at USC in 77. And USC won at Bama in 78. Kind of like Ohio State Oklahoma series where road team has won all 4 times.

Bama lost to USC in 1970 at home then won in L.A. in 1971, the night the Tide wishbone was unleashed. Bama won the two other meetings since.

@@danielcrowe9324 Very good! I saw all but the two L.A. games. The 1971 win out there was the night Alabama football turned into living technicolor to my young eyes. Kind of like on the Wizard of Oz when the house lands in Oz. Missed only 51 games since.

The 1978 loss was heartbreaking, but Bama went on to win it all with the win over Penn State in the Sugar Bowl. The 70s were full of magical times at Legion Field and Bryant-Denny, and on the road as well.🏈🏈🏈

@@danielcrowe9324 I remember a long pass that was a sure INT--it went through DB Don McNeil's hands and into USC's WR for a TD. Then a pic in end zone late in game. We started with two tough games...Nebraska and Missouri. But 4 turnovers killed us that day.

Question from a non american ? Is the blonde woman at 1.34.40 someone famous? the camera focused on her a lot. Or is it just because she's hot? (i can understand the cameramen lol). Also even if getting older is inevitable and this game was filmed almost 47 years ago, is it kind of weird to think that she's now in her 70's.

Same, in 1970: '70 squad was maybe usc's worst roster in the 70s.
