This year of the Regal was the last time the car had a V8 engine. After this, it got the body style and V6 that would eventually give birth to that 1980s monster known as the Grand National. So, if for nothing else, that alone makes this seemingly ordinary late 1970s car quite historic.

Interesting option combination: power windows, but manual door locks. A/C but no radio. Tilt wheel but no cruise control. And a 350 which had to be a super rare option: most of these had either the 231 V6 or that awful 260 V8.

My friend had a brand new 77’ regal. I was driving a 73’ Grand Prix. I ran an errand for him and he said take my car. A complete dog compared to my GP but it’s a beautiful car no doubt. So I hit a pot hole and the steering wheel had a mini seizure. Compared to the GP I would take my GP any day of the week.
