I have a black 5th Avenue 1987. I parked side by side with the black Thunderbird. It was in amazing original condition! Owner only wanted $3,500 for it. Even in a small town in Maine, I call the guy a month later...gone!

The headlight covers make it a 1978 not 1977 which had no chrome or birds on them.

I had a '77 and I put those trim rings on the headlights, so that is a possibility. The VIN says it is a '77 (looked it up on website).

True, standard equipment on the 77 did not include bird emblems, but an option package included a nicer interior and the bird emblems on the headlight doors.

I think that is the 78 version my father had the 77 and it did not have the emblem on the head lights my uncle had the 78 version which had the emblem on the head lights

You have to have money to burn to buy these cars. A piece of garage art. I'd take the $22.5k and put it down on the upcoming '23 Prius. I'll go to car shows for the nostalgia but none of the headaches of ownership. My brother has a '70 Mustang and it's always needing something. It's just a weekend toy too..

The 302 is not a good engine for this car

@mrski749 the 1970s were hard on Detroit. Gas was in short supply due to two major Arab oil embargos so fuel economy and lower emissions were being forced by the government. The 302 is a decent motor because you still get V8 power and smoothness but doesn't guzzle gas like a big block
