It did. Quite obviously, as a matter of fact. But, no replay in those days, they just let them play. Plus, the refs were always whores for the Cowboys in those days, so it is not surprising that it was allowed to stand as a catch.

In a game where the Chiefs were blown out, the run by Tony Reed (5:54) might be one of the great unseen plays of all time. It’s reminiscent of a more famous run Walter Payton would have against those very same Chiefs a couple of weeks later in wk 9.

Here’s the scoop on Orenthal James Simpson: His brilliant post-football career as an actor and broadcaster was derailed after his beloved ex-wife was horrifically murdered in a drug deal gone awry. He has devoted his life since to finding the killer\s, putting up ample reward money, coordinating his efforts with law enforcement, even spending several years in the Nevada State Penitentiary in a heroic albeit futile effort to pursue leads. To no avail. Truly, as Time Magazine said, an American Tragedy.

The Broncos' loss to the Raiders in Week 7 would be just one of 2 times they lost during the 1977 regular season-interestingly their other loss was to the Dallas Cowboys who ultimately defeated them in the Super Bowl. The Raiders in this game were anxious to revenge a loss they suffered at the hands of the Broncos at home in week 5

In todays nfl you have no offensive lineman pulling and making key blocks for sweeps and screens cause they are too fat , and def lineman used to make down field tackles 20 - 30 yards down field , now once the ball has gone passed the line of scrimmage , they stop and watch the play , they need to go back to lineman who are in shape , enough of the lineman who cant see thier own shoes when they look down !

George Allen is putting Theismann in more and more - Allen relied too much on his old guys and the defense, it wasn't until the offensive brilliance of Joe Gibbs came along that Theismann really started on his way to greatness
@arthurbishop31733 жыл бұрын
For all his 'rah rah rah...40 men can't lose' speeches, he couldn't win a SB. To me, as much of an icon and a character as GA was, Gibbs was the better coach, who took the Redskins to a whole 'nother level, and won it all.

@@shanetrimble9265 Interesting stat is that in '79, seven different players caught at least 20 passes for the Skins. That might have been a record at the time. Showing that Joey T could really spread the ball around. Of course, the season ended with That Game that true Skins fans will never accept.

The Chiefs were actually behind 30-0 at halftime. They had no answer for Greg Pruitt. Their defense was old and slow and could not stop the run to save their lives. And with that 44-7 defeat, the long distinguished NFL coaching career of Paul Wiggin came to a close. In his defense, they drafted poorly and had no replacements for their great players. Tough time to be a Chiefs fan in '77.
@larrymelman3 жыл бұрын
Well, not really as Wiggin would coach for 14 more years. I have no idea if he was deserving of being a head coach but clearly in those years, no one was going to win in KC.
