1977 White Road Boss launch in Sydney, NSW by HW Crouch

In this film, you will see the launch of the Australian-built White Road Boss, hosted by HW Crouch (Sole NSW White and Leader Truck Dealer in the 1970s). Dealers, distributors, and customers from around Australia attended this event held at the Argyle Centre, The Rocks NSW in 1977. It showcases other White Motor Corporation workhorses from the 1970s including White 4000s, 9000s, Road Commanders, and even an Autocar.
This film was also aired at The 8th Australian White Truck Muster in Kyabram Vic. in 2019 with special thanks to Doug Shand who was our guest speaker.

The background music in this film is brilliant. Wasn’t expecting this, 70’s electronica. My dad was a truck driver from the 70’s to the 90’s, I really enjoyed the old truck and road footage.

My mates mum worked in the 70’s at White Crouch Chipping Norton when I was in primary school.Fast forward to 1991 & found myself driving a White Road Boss 6 wheeler & pig trailer then another Road Boss semi trailer hauling coal.300 Cummins,9speed Roadranger & those Mark 4 under dash air conditioners really cooled you down in that small cab.Excellent trucks.

My dad used to load buchannen trucks at lemminton mine in the 70s when i was a kid round here they were called the grey ghosts

Currently restoring an 82 model road boss , chassis has the Cummins 400 big cam with some mods rated 450 hp with 15 direct and fast diffs , good for 95 mph and Alcoa wheel throughout , just 6 wheels and diesel tanks x2 a fully guttered cab inside and out , originally a TNT truck as new , 2nd owner is my boss , had this truck since 1988, only gripes is cabs were not galvanised and rust inside out badly , but I,ll see to it that it's fixed with welding new pieces, bog is for ripples dents etc not for covering bloody rust , fuck I hate people who do that , I feel like walking up to them and belting them in the head and shoveing their head straight in the bog can
