@assininecomment1630 Жыл бұрын
Compared to what, exactly? The track looked the same, and the cars sounded just as good, the previous year. It had nothing to do with a television station. It wasn't until 'racecam' was developed coupla years later, that our broadcasts did anything special.

I feel sorry for Mr Moffatt in the interview after his lap, he was under so much pressure to get a Falcon to win the race that year He did as the factory wanted, and won the race, only to receive $1300 gift bonus for all his troubles, according to his book The man is a legend, and went through hell. Colin Bond had none of those issues to worry about, and was smart enough to let the boss win at the end of the final lap. Good boy Bondy!

Bond was way quicker than Moffat during the Bathurst 500 that year. The fact is: that leading up to that great moment where the two big Fords crossed the line, first & second. Bond was told to slow down at the races end to let Moffat, the team principle, take the lead and win. Car 1, and car 2 -- first & second

TOTALLY outclassed by the mighty A9X Toranas. By 78 the XC was a dinosaur floating up and down in the front end wallowing around and running out of brakes. Suspension design dating back to the 50s ford flogging a dead horse for years just like Moffat who blindly and arrogantly followed along being rewarded with being dumped by ford management. All stripes no substance all noise no action thrashed at sandown then thrashed at Bathurst by 6 laps a true ford bogan special.

You forget 1977 ; the Torana A9X Bathurst ; 13 broke down . Which is why Ford won so easily. Holden spent mega bucks in 1978 - didn’t do them any good where is Holden now. The last Holden CEO said Holden would have survived if it wasn’t for the bogans & housos who don’t buy their new cars.

@@ToranaA9X308 yes that’s for sure - Ford had pulled out by 1979 and only 4 or 5 falcons started. Cams refused to allow Ford to run the same system sump that they allowed the Toranas to use . Therefore plenty of engines were sure to get oil surge and detonate . My uncle was the boss at CAMs and he said to my dad , what we done to Ford over the years was criminal.
