You'd feel safe driving that today. There is one zip code distance from the bumper to the front seat.

I had a '76 Eldo with the 500 and then a '77 Biarritz with the 425. There's nothing like cruising on the interstate in one of these with the cruise set. A really smooth quiet ride. Mpg would run between 15-17 depending on conditions. That was about average for the luxo-barges of the day.

Wondering how this car ended up with a 472 motor? This year came from the factory with a 425 ci motor with either a carb or FI. The 472 wasn't used past '74. Nice looking car btw.

Sorry to say, but, in 1978 CADILLAC no longer produced a 472 cid engine. In this example was a 425cid. But, nevertheless this is an awesome Eldo. I,think in '74 the 472cid was replaced with a 500cid. In 1976, the big 500cid was the final year. Man, were those pre '76 big blocks 454,455,472 500cid were ultra smooth, dependable, quiet (@ idle). They may not have the high horsepower of when these engines were 1st out (1970),but, had more than enough torque down low to get these behemoths moving. Imagine with today's technology how powerful these engines naturally aspirated would be. Hmmmm

Love this car and would like to trade in my gorgeous Jaguar XJS 95 coupe red . I look at it every day. I don't think it is as big as my family thinks , perhaps that depends on how much you want it.
