My Dad bought one new in 78. Paid $18,500 CDN. New Impalas were $7500 at the time. A lot of great memories. Took it skiing in Mich all the time. 4 people in the back & 3 in the front. Unstoppable in the snow.

The 78 El dorado is the last of the beautiful nice big body cars, because of the new emission laws it came with the smaller 425 engine block than the previous 1976 that came with the most popular bigger 500 cid..

Priced high for a coupe BUT it's the last of the full size Eldos and it's the absolute top of the range Custom Biarritz package. Finding another with these low miles in this condition would be very tough.

Ya true but a guy had a brwon 78 barriz whith 19k on it it sold for 17k thats a lot more reasnble if this was a custom covertable 78 eldo then it might be worth 36 k but u can get a lot of good one of thes for about 8500 to 10k

For this money, I’d want to see the original, Cadillac-spec wide stripe whitewall tires on this.. I believe it was a 1.6” whitewall… they would pull the whole look of the car together .. they’re out there… dbtires out of Conway SC sells OEM-looking whitewalls of the period.

TOO BAD THESE CARS WERE SO UNDERPOWERED, WEAK IN THE JOINTS AND SUFFERED FROM OVERHEATING. YOU COULD BUY THESE FOR 500.00 TO 2,500 FOR THE REALLY NICE ONES IN 1983. THESE CARS WERE PRETTY, BUT A SHOT IN THE DARK. LIKE THE LINCOLNS OF THAT ERA. PRETTY BUT WERE RENDERED USELESS IN A QUICKNESS.
