I would like to have done that with my 78. Sold it to a co worker and he built a dirt tracker. It was cool but then it was like...damn it. Oh well the choices ee make.

Do u guys find the car to the customer has to bring it to u

I am the owner of this car. I am NOT "extremely satisfied" with the work. He did not "update the motor" whatever that means. He did not "straighten and balance the driveshaft". What he did was have a custom heavy duty driveshaft made for it, and now I have a driveline vibration, and I have never had that problem before. He also did NOT install a new set of 3:55 gears but rather rebuilt the rear with the stock 3:08 gear set as I requested. That job was very well done I have to say.This guy took me for thousands of dollars and the car is still spraying oil all over the place. They failed to set the timing when they reinstalled the distributor, and on top of that the distributor was off by a tooth on it's gear. This caused the plug wires to be stretched over the headers and burned the wires after I set the timing. Setting the timing has become guesswork due to the installation of a new timing cover (thicker flange) that positioned the timing tab so far forward it completely covered the timing tape. There are other issues as well. He also raped me on the labor for replacing a fuel pump and other work on my 1998 Crown Vic P-71 cop car. 6+ hours to replace a fuel pump? It's a two hour job. When I got that car back after only about 20 miles on the road I lost fuel pressure on the State Thruway (in freezing rain) and had to get towed, to the tune of 350$. This because when they reconnected the fuel lines to the tank sender THEY LEFT THE RETAINER CLIPS OFF THE LINE FITTINGS. He failed to make good on the tow, only offering to "make it up" in labor the next time I came to him, which at this point is not likely to ever happen. All in all this shop is extremely lacking in attention to detail and very poor at checking the work done before returning the car to the customer. STAY AWAY FROM BONEZ GARAGE!!!

@@winchesterjackson5131 what kind of mufflers you have in this video? I'm trying to quiet my 88 caprice 383. I have Flowmaster 70 series on it now. It's quiet but I'm looking at hush thrush and mabey a couple resonators. I want it oem quiet, but with a cam, headers etc, not sure how quiet I can get it....

@@winchesterjackson5131 That frickin sucks!! The 78 - in that color, even - was my first car and I have such good memories of it. To have someone screw you over like this on a gem like that is just not cool.

Same car that I cut my teeth on. Except 4 dr. New engine, trans,rear, suspension, brakes, exhaust. Set up my own carb and distributor. You name it. The problem was the interior. Lots of cheap plastic. If I was building one today, I would use a computer controlled modern fuel injected engine/ transmission instead. The nice thing we’re I live, this wouldn’t have to meet emissions anymore. A big problem when I built mine in 1982.

I have a 78" Impala 2 door, has less bells and whistles than the Caprice. Replaced the 305 with a Crate LT1/ 350 /Holley 4160, 1996 Impala SS Rear Axle, (3.08 Gear) / Posi/ Disc brakes. Stock tranny with Hardened Sprag/ Shift kit. Headman headers, Total sleeper...Oh it's also factory White with replaced Interior. Can't go anywhere with it. People just want this Ride.

old video i know, but if someone "updated the motor" (wtf does that mean anyway) and it still smoked like that, i'd be pissed.
@hughjass104410 ай бұрын
Lots of reasons why a new engine will smoke. Not at all uncommon for a rebuilt engine to smoke for a while until the rings are seated. Quite normal. If it still smokes after 500 miles or so, then you've got a problem.

Valve seals. Typical of GM's from that era.
@justincooper5189Күн бұрын
There are two types of updating the engine. First one is basically a rebuild. Second one is putting a newer engine with more current technology in the car. Depending on what you want, it's not always a bad idea to update the powertrain. Just take into account how much wear the engine block has if you don't want to update your powertrain. If the engine gets too much cylinder wear, it could be junk. Depending on the year of the engine, it might be junk even if you had it sleeved.
