@@joerobinson7224 No half year model; square headlights were optional on the Custom trim package and standard on the XLT trim package in 78. All 79's came with square headlights.

you sure yours isn't a 79? 79s had square headlights...but someone could have also just swapped um out on ya. go on lmc truck and look for 78 for headlights i believe they should fit right into the grill for both 78/79. i own a 75 so i have circle headlights and a split grille to begin with

Some 78s came with square lights. My dad bought his new and it came with square. I think halfway thru the year they changed over.
