I couldn't agree more!.... Being a Richard Petty fan, I salivate when any of the old Grand national races are shown, first race Kingsport international speedway1969-Bristol 2011 night race.. I've been to approximately 70 cup races! Between 1971 through 19 82 Bristol, Darlington, Charlotte, Atlanta, Rockingham, Pocono, save The Best for last TALLADEGA! Been to Daytona -never for a race.... Really 70 races is a very modest count! But get this, all those I saw Petty win (2) that's right TWO I'm 66 years old now, I started going at age 12, I got stories as long as your arm! I appreciate your time! And take care! BOB. 🏁 I appreciate your time, take care!!! 🏁

@@robertslaughter5784 Friggin awesome reply! 💪 I'm 61 now, first Cup race ( Grand National car's then ) was Riverside International in 66, it was there that my father told me I had to pick "my guy" to root for, I chose Richard Petty & have alway's been proud that I chose him before anyone ever called him "The KING" 😏 I was lucky as well, being in the stands for 2 of Richard's Victories there at RIR, but even luckier by being in the front-stretch stands at Ontario Motor Speedway in 79, where witnessed Mr The King win his 7th Championship!! 😃 Man I'm telling ya, I was one VERY HAPPY 17yr old 43 car fan leaving OMS that day! 😜👍 #IbleedPettyBlue2! #43carForever!!

Thank you very much for your kind response! 🏁. Sincerely, BOB 🏁

Imagine how many races petty would have won in a ford or chevy his whole career. The magnum was huge. It could finish 4th and 5th in the same race .lol Inman said it was the worst race car to ever come through the shop. They bought a monte carlo off of Cecil Gordon and some motors from gilmore racing. They never ran one but they had them as a back up and a starting point.

Actually this year, the race was officially the CAM2 Motor Oil 400.

Petty Enterprise was still using the Dodge Magnum....which by looks and on paper should have been a fast car.

TheNASCARJeff Unfortunately it turned out to be an ill handling beast and Richard’s stomach problems that would require surgery following the 78 season didn’t help. They ended up finishing the season in an old 1974 Monte Carlo.

The funny part is we would be turning flips if Bubba could get the Magnum's results today. They were off by PE standards of the day, but they were not terrible.

What was really strange about the Magnum was that it was the same chassis as his multi - winning Charger just a Magnum body .

@@TheNASCARJeff No it came from Cecil Gordon actually.

It was all over, except for the crying, after 1971 as far as real stock car racing went. Actually, the same could be said for America, and Western Civilization, in general as far as that goes.
