That's a fine car. I just remember when they came out and they were Mustang Also's (Too) . Ford tried so hard to make people believe that Also's were Mustangs too, but that King Cobra was actually quite the ripper ! Carter's Malaise had hit cars hard. I had a 78 King Cobra, in 1980. Factory 302 & factory 4-speed. The four-speed transmission was definitely not strong enough for that smog engine 302. Would have been a better car with the Ford top loader or a Borg Warner Super t-10. I believe the factory transmission was a BorgWarner t-85? The other thing bad about that mustang was the four stud front hubs and 4 stud back axles, the factory aluminum honeycomb Wheels were cool, but 13 inch wheels (4 - bolt) we're too small.
