I watched Falcon Almahurst in the Battle of Brandywine, then this race, two classics to witness in person!

i was there. Race was contested in a blinding Thunderstorm that moved over the Big M right after the post parade. We could barely see the field as they went down the backstretch.

Falcon's talent on the track was a godsend for PJ Baugh of Almahurst, as the next two offspring of Ingenue(Hawk&Cobra) brought $400K+ at the sales, and both were abject failures...

I thought Abercrombie would inhale the Falcon after those fractions.

brianjschumer Just so i can tell you that you are wrong..AGAIN!!! Falcon Seelster was NOT by Falcon Almahurst...he was by Warm Breeze, and in doing so, kept the Bret Hanover male line viable for another 15 years...

@@pamelacourts5989 I watch these 77,78,79 videos out of nostalgia of the nights going out to Roosevelt, just can't find one with the great battles between Abercrombie and Wizard Almahurst with of course the great calls from Jack E. Lee that's kept in in my memory for the last 45 years.

Although he was capable of racing at 4, Falcon was locked into retirement to stand at Hill Farms in Ohio. Charlie, along with Dee Hall, managed Falcon's sire career so well that he was dominant for over a decade and a half in the OSS program...

brianjschumer The complaints now days is that none of the good 3yos come back to race as aged..You had to have a helluva resume back then to get a stud deal after 3...Oh...wait a minute...you spent most of your time in the Clubhouse, so you NEVER knew what it was like to be responsible for a horse who was worth 150k or more...
