This man knows what he's talking about. He updated both the motor mounts and transmission mounts. Many, many dealers don't care aobut this, although it's necessary with old Mercedes, nevermind the total miles. I had a 1978 Mercedes W123 280E Automatic from 1990-94, a friend of mine back then a 1980 240D. The W123 is utterly reliable, but it needs some service from time to time nevertheless, and that's what the dealer actually did. Hope it fetches a nice sum on the auction, it's worth it. Is the power delivery of a 300 D much better than a 240 D in your opinion?

The W123 240D has 137 Nm at 2400 rpm with a 4cyl. and and the 300D has 172 Nm at 2400 rpm with a 5 cylinder. The 300D Turbo made 250 Nm at 2400 rpm. The Turbo is the one to go for, but the Turbo unit is also a point of failure, but 200k mi are usually ok for the robust turbo life span. The 300D engien is rated as indestructible and in Morocco there are still a number of former German taxis that were sold there with more than 500k mi on the clock. My dad was so proud of his first Mercedes, a 1975 300D, red like this car. But it just has no power, drove faster than a turtle. Beautiful engineering, the feeling of excellence totally. But buyers should make sure they've driven one of these first. They're slow.
