I know Cotton Perry. He owns a car repair shop in Ringgold, GA. Him and my dad were good friends in those days. His boy and grandson do the raving these days. The pocket rocket was a 65 Chevy II with a 292 straight 6 built by Jim Headrick (Rip) at Race Engine Design in Ringgold. Used to love when they'd get to talking about these days and I'd sit there glassy eyed hanging on every word. Really awesome getting to actually see some of these stories come to life. Cotton Perry & Jim Headrix Were My All Time Favorites To Watch Driving That 292Cid inline 6 Cyl. at Brainerd Dragstrip Which is In Their Hometown of Ringgold Ga. ! Jim Headrix Was 2nd To None When it Came To Making an Engine Run and Way Way ahead Of His Time When It Came To Making a Cylinder Head Flow ! He is Truly Missed God Rest His Soul and Cotton Perry Could Cut a Light Like No Other an Launched The Pocket Most Times at 11,000 RPM and Said POCKET ROCKET Launched Violently Hard Coming Off The Line ! I Was Only 12 Years Old Then an Now I'm 59 and Would Give Almost Anything if l Could Go Back in Time and Watch POCKET ROCKET Run Just One More Time ! 2 Brilliant Men as a Team Driving 1 Well Thought Out and Built Car ! That Inline 6 Cyl. Sounded like No Other in The World For it Would Scream For its Time !!! 🇺🇸
