THE 3.0SC TARGA
Porsche engineers don’t make mistakes very often, but the 2.7-liter 911s built between 1975 and 1977 were plagued with engine problems when new. In 1978, Porsche put those problems behind them with the introduction of the brilliant 3.0 liter 911SC. Porsche now finally mated a body that was capable of lasting indefinitely with an engine that was capable of lasting nearly that long.
Well maintained 911SCs are capable of 300,000 miles between rebuilds.Power was up from the 2.7 liter 911 as well, although not by an enormous amount and the SC was good for a 0-60 run of about 6.3 seconds. Leather, air conditioning, power mirrors and forged alloy wheels became all but standard. The last year of the car saw the addition of the first full convertible Porsche since 1965.
OUR 3.0SC TARGA
This US-market 911SC 3.0 Targa was completed at the Porsche factory in 1978. The Porsche was finished much as it appears today, in a lovely Minerva Blue metallic (light blue metallic) exterior, over a black interior.
According to the history file the blue 911SC Targa resided in California and left for Europe in 2013. It came to Belgium in september 2014. The SC Targa presents in lovely condition throughout and gives you the feel of a car that wants to be driven. Correct black-center ATS 'cookie-cutter' wheels are fitted with brand new Bridgestone tires. Inside you'll find a modern Blaupunkt radio with classic look and well maintained carpets.
The car received an engine and gearbox rebuild in 2015 to repair the common oil leaks. Just recently the car received further extensive maintenance by us - RSC Automobile. This includes new clutch kit, brake caliper rebuild, new fluids, new tires, wheel alignement and much more.
A very usable "young-timer", this fine 1978 Porsche 911SC 3.0 Targa offers brisk performance and an abundance of torque on tap from the overhead cam six-cylinder engine. Ideal for Sunday drives or participation in the many rally's and events around the country this classic Porsche Targa deserves serious consideration.
