Don Ellis passed away at 92 last week. He was still league bowling thru his mid eighties with around a 170 average. RIP

This was a great even concept. I attended the Great & Greatest tournament when it was at Tenpin on the Mall in Paramus, NJ, probably in 1977 or '78. I got a ton of autographs on a program (including Earl Anthony - my idol) and (like a FOOL) I sent it to my granpda, where it was lost forever. What I would give to see that program again. I remember shaking Earl Anthony's hand and chatting with him in the snack bar. What a great gentleman and ambassador for the game.

Growing up these were my bowling idles. I actually bowled a match against Mark Roth at the local bowling ally Sid Gordon’s when I was 16. Of course I didn’t win but great memories.

Hell, this wasn't even his first rodeo with pro bowling. He was part of the original broadcast crew on the Pro Bowlers Tour when he was with ABC back in the early 1960s. He was one of the greatest.

Wow, Joe Joseph is using a Lind's urethane house ball! What a master.

Are you sure urethane was available in 1978? I thought the AMF Angle was the first in about 1982.

TFW you realize you're older than Jack Buck. Don't worry, youngster, you'll get some bigger gigs soon. :) 2:10 - Hey Joe, Jack is younger, and even has his own hair! :)

No hollering and hooting or waving silly signs as they do now. Bowling as it should be.
