My dad ordered one of these then when the dealership called to tell him it was in he walked in the showroom and there was a black with grey velour seats and white vinyl and grey carpeting on doors and floor. Just knock out gorgeous. He came home with it. They asked don’t you even want to look at your car you ordered. He said no I’ll take the black one. Drove it 12 years and it looked the same as day one. When he traded it the car was sold within an hour. Funny thing it was bought by a family in the same neighborhood but within a year they trashed it. Very sad. The 79’-80’ models are the ones you want because they had the Oldsmobile 350(5.7)

Apparently, they think people who drive Rivieras play tennis. The 1981 brochure I have has a guy dressed up in tennis gear with a racket leaning against a hunter green T-Type.

I just bought a 1985 Riviera and I am going to repair or replace all of the worn out parts. It rides pretty good but I might replace the air suspension system.

The Riv was always a luxury car shared with the Eldo and Toronado eventually with some sportiness. The '75-78s were not sporty in the least. Even the '74 had a Stage 1 GS option despite losing its unique design. 1979 is when they brought back performance.
