1979 CADILLAC PHAETON COUPE | EXPENSIVE RARE FIND | ONLY 1800 MADE

Custom Phaeton Coupe only totaled 1800 Produced.
Cadillac Special Editions have always been a way to express one's individuality. For the 1979 model year one such limited edition was the Custom Phaeton Coupe. This is a fine example with 58,000 Original Miles.
After a very successful launch of the radically downsized Coupe and Sedan DeVilles for 1977, in 1978 Cadillac introduced an optional “Phaeton” package. Available on both coupe and sedan, the $1,929 Phaeton package featured a simulated convertible-top, special pinstriping, wire wheel discs, and “Phaeton” nameplates in place of the usual “Coupe de Ville” or “Sedan de Ville” ornament on the rear fenders. Inside were leather upholstered seats and a leather-trimmed steering wheel matching the exterior color. The package was available in “Cotillion White” (with Dark Blue roof), “Platinum Silver” (with a Black roof), or “Arizona Beige” (with a Dark Brown roof) such as the example featured here. 1979 quietly marked the last year for Cadillac’s 425 cubic inch (7.0 liter V8).

That Lac is Nice!!!! 20"s would have been enough for me though. That's the right stance and everything!!! You have to do suspension work to make big wheels fit right without damaging the suspension, over time, because of an off-balance suspension stressing tie rods, bearings, wont align correctly(no where close to zero), tire rubs. Stick with the 1970’s or earlier. I bought an 84 Eldorado the car was gorgeous but the worst car ever made ! Seriously underpowered and they overheat constantly ! I wound up scrapping the car just to get out from underneath it ! A mechanical nightmare HT4100 B.S.engine !

@Keith Benson you absolutely right on that about the 4100 motors. They ain't worth a damn. I had an 84 coup de ville 4door and it had a 4100 motor. The fact that the 4100 motor are aluminum but it you get them serviced. They will last. The only problem that I had with my 84 coupe de ville. Was just a blown head gaskets. I fixed it and didn't have any problems with it anymore. The Oldsmobile motors. I think it's the 307 Oldsmobile motors can easily fit into that lacs of that Era. Of course you would have to change out the drive shaft and turn it into a rearwheel drive.

Lol it's so funny this guy always calls those "staggered" Dayton's.. na bruh anybody knows Dayton don't make staggered spoke wheels that just sounds ridiculous. The rear are reverse n the front are standard. If he didn't shorten the rear end they would look goofy AF n real staggered wheels you don't generally have to shorten the rear end.

@@franksway3658 you don't have to shorten your rear end to go real staggered. A real set of staggered wheels basically have the same offset all around. The only reason the offset changes slightly is because the rear wheel is usually an inch or so wider than the front. Only time you need to shorten your rear end is when you have a really deep dish wheel in the rear. Like a 7"+ lip wheel you're going to have to shorten your rear end to tuck. If you've ever seen a reverse Dayton on a car the wheels stick out hella.. for example the Menace 2 Society Mustang GT 5.0 has the reverse Dayton's on it n they stick out all around. That's the same kind of wheel this guy is using just for the rear of his car that's why they shortened to the rear end so it will tuck and sit even with the front wheel.
