The depth of the front bumper, looks like a picnic bench! Sweet car

Noticed your right turn signal indicator is on constantly with the parking lights turned on. This is a common problem with ‘70’s era Fords. It’s usually a bad ground on the turn signal light bulb socket. Fortunately the socket is easily available from AutoZone or Ford parts suppliers, like LMC Truck. It’s most likely the front right socket. My first car was a 1978 LTD with the 351 Cleveland and a 2bbl carb (dog), second car was 1977 LTDII with the 351 Windsor and a 4bbl carb (hauled). Currently own an all original and beautiful 1977 Ford F150 XLT Ranger with a 460 and a 4bbl carb. All 3 vehicles had to have one of the turn signal sockets replaced because of the same issue I noticed on yours. Cool car, glad to see you appreciate the classics.

Man I love that LTD one of these days hopefully I can add one to my collection a true piece of American Automotive History. I love the old days when it comes to the vehicles they were simple to use you didn't have to have a rocket scientist to figure out how to use them you just put the key in and start it and I got you back and forth to work and generally when something did go wrong with them it was pretty easy to figure out what was wrong. I love the dash layout in the instrument cluster the way they organized it as well the car overall looks pretty streamlined. Great video.

Hey that is a great car! I just picked up one myself (it's blue though) and will put a video up on it. Thanks for showcasing your beautiful car and all of it's features. They really don't build them like that anymore and it's so nice to see one is such good condition! I can't wait to see your future videos on that and maybe I'll see you out there on the road.

That blank space on the dash is where the optional clock went. If you wanted a tach, you had to order the optional sport package.

I had a '77 T-Bird and a '77 LTD II sedan at the same time. I actually enjoyed driving the LTDII more. Probably due to the 2" longer wheelbase.

Cool, and rare, car. Super basic which makes it cool. My first car was a 78 Thunderbird handed down from my mom. They are really easy to work on. Sadly, I sold my original 78 years ago but bought another 78 Which is also easy to work on.

I wanted this car when I was a kid but was talked into the Old's Starfire which was not a mistake because of insurance costs for a kid my age and gas. The 302 is well matched to this automobile for normal use. My family slightly later owned the wagon version with the 351W and it was well matched for hauling six kids around. This automobile was never known to light the tires up on the road but rather a responsible/reliable family car. You do have the bare bones version but it is still a nice one.

My parents have one of those when I was a kid It was a 77 LTD II Brougham It had like little port windows behind the back doors and on the gauge cluster that was where the clock would go if you chose to get the clock when you getting options back then lol ours was powder blue with the navy blue land out roof and navy blue velour seats with power windows and power seats in the front was fully loaded They are nice cars and they were built off the Ford elite chassis

It looks as though someone buffed out sections of the car you may be able to buff out the rest and get good results. These cars were pretty much the same as the T-Bird, Cougar, or Elite and many of the parts would be interchangeable.

@@exploringwithmatthew1629i think it would be cool if you made a video from the dashboard showing the performance of the car as its shifts into speed. Perhaps a nice sunset drive...like 5 min video. What you got there is indeed a rare vehicle, especially considering its great condition.

Question for you sir. I need to replace the gas tank in mine and I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the bolts out of the filler neck hood piece (the piece that shields the filler neck in the trunk). They don't look like normal bolts to me (they have holes in the middle of their heads and no place for a hex wrench or anything to grab on to. I did some searching online and didn't find anything that looked like them or how to take them out. I was hoping you might have an idea for that. Thanks and I hope the car's running well :)

I can take a look tomorrow after work if its something easy to look at. I had my gas tank replaced at a shop recently so i'm not sure if they used the old bolts.

I had a tan on Brown with a brown interior LTD 2. It was no AC am radio. I kind of think it was a big car they were trying to sell his economy car like Ford. Bill Ford liked his big cars it wallowed over bumps and rolled through corners. But it was comfortable to drive. And roomy

Please refer to this car as the LTD 2 I think it was built off the Grand Torino platform play built a lot of cars after that platform. There .was also an LTD but it was bigger also squarer if that's the thing.

A 302 V-8 for this model year might have only had 120 horsepower, far too weak for a two-ton car. Try driving it up a steep hill on a hot day with 5 people in it and the air conditioning on.

Dad rented the Thunderbird from this era think it was a 78 or 79. We had an AMC matador wagon and a Pontiac Sunbird then but we were moving across the country our cars were transported . Anyways always remember how quite smooth and powerful it seemed in comparison. Plus the hideaway headlights! And comfy seats and that hood ornament! Luxury wish he would have bought one like that
