Just subscribed. Was also have a 301A. ours isnt a nice as yours. Outs is a Ex highway dept tractor. It has a mid mount Hyd lift center PTo driven sickle bar mower. no rear PTO or three point. no diff lock. no shuttle and ours is 3 cyl gas. However its a joy to use power steering runs & handles great has a factory conapy . I need to get a PTO. I could build a three point ad use a external hyd cyl.

Mine was originally a municipal machine it did NOT look anything like this when I got it I am lucky that it has pretty much all the bells and whistles. Mid mount PTO is the only thing it's missing. Well, remotes too. But that's something I can add pretty easy. I know of a loader on a burnt machine that with a little work would clean up good. Right model, so it'd bolt right on

I just got the JD 302 A version of yours which seems the same to look at. I love it because it old school simple. Best power steering I ever seen on a tractor... I'm so glad you explained how to use the shifter. The 3rd day I was using mine it got stuck in gear big time and I was wondering if I did something wrong? It has a shifter warning on the side of the shifter floor board but I can not read it easily very worn hard to read. Had to take the two covers off for the shifter turns out I shifted the right gear shifter first and then I moved the HI low shifter second. And then it looks like it got jammed into park ...Wish I could share a picture here.. But on the left side of the trany where the shifter rod goes into the far left hole slot was in the center next to it on the right was the park and HI range slot rod with a spring on it... it was stuck in the back position towards the rear end. I slid it forward towards the motor and it freed up everything so now I could even shift the right hand side gear selector too. My shifter rod was bent and welded wrong before I bought it and it could be pulled out of the trany. Thank you. I'm still not quite done with it. Few minor things to do. Check my videos, I got another one a few weeks ago that I'm going to give a "refresh". My plans are to do a step by step video of everything I do to it from how it is now to looking and running good.

Is the lever on the left of the dash shuttle shift?

I just bought one several months ago at the auction. It was recently painted green, so it'll stay that way. My only issue is the 3 point is not lifting on demand (with no attachments). Sometimes it'll go up on it's own if I leave the lever to lift. My guess is the hydraulic pump. Any way to check it?

First thing I'd do is change the filter and clean the screen, or replace it. Wouldn't hurt to give it new hydraulic oil. Who knows how old the oil in it is. 2 drain plugs on the bottom. Takes approx. 10 gallons to fill.
