Sweet time capsule! These early Fox bodies were all over the place into the '00s.

This is worth a lot of money in this market. I hope this car ends up with someone who is a great caretaker of this piece of history.

Great example of a Capri! I still have my 1984 Mercury Capri RS with a V8 that I got from my father, and he bought the car new in 1983. It still has the factory oxford white paint with the tri-color stripe kit. I did the same as you with the lowered stance but unfortunately because the original factory 5.0 motor broke the crank and block, I ended up having to use a newer style roller block from a later model Mustang that was stroked to 347. I liked the increased HP but was bummed that the factory motor was no longer in the car. I put wide Centerline rims on it because as you mentioned the factory tires were WAY too much money and at the time the LMR TRX's you had weren't available yet. You NEVER see these cars now a days and I get stopped in mine all the time when I take it out by people who have either never seen one and want to know what it is or people who haven't seen one in decades and they all say the same thing, "I don't remember these cars being this cool!" LOL. Most people don't realize there was only a very limited number of these produced with the last 4 years 83-86 being the lowest production years. In 1984 they only produced just over 3,600 RS 5.0 V8 cars and just over 1,500 RS Turbo 4-cylinder cars. You just don't see these cars anymore!

Absolutely amazing video!! This really brought me back in time as my first car was a 79 RS Turbo! It was red but was optioned exactly like this one! I bought it in 1986 (was 17 as well) and paid 2400 for it. I bought it based on how it looked, not knowing too much about classic cars. It was a blast to drive and fairly quick with the turbo! Unfortunately, 6 months later I totaled it in a head on collision. But what I car and wish I could find one again! Thanks for sharing this!!

I had a 1980 Capri RS Turbo in black and tan interior. If you took it on a longer trip (over 200 miles) the exhaust manifolds would glow bright red and the heat would cook the turbo seals. Wasn't a great performance car, but it was attractive for the time period IMO.
@euroasianbob926810 ай бұрын
Sounds like a fuel mixture problem if manifolds getting that hot. Early days of turbo tech.

Beautiful car, had Mustang equivalents in high school, including a turbo, and Cobra V8. I understand the metric wheel swap, but lowering it....well, uh, just no. Takes so much from the design and nostalgia.

I had an 82 5.0 Capri with Recaro seats. It was a great car. The rims on that car present problems when it comes time to buy tires. $$$$$$$ if you can find them. an odd size that is no more. Nice looking car, but need to dump the fog lights. they kill the look of the front end.

Seems pretty appropriate that you recorded this video in the old service bay of Dick Price Lincoln Mercury. I purchased my special order 79 Capri on 12/27/1978. Total cost with tax was $6571.55 out the door. Twenty years old and paid cash for my first new car. Probably should have kept that one! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I had 1974 Capri 2.8 V6. Sweet bodystyle. These foxbodys do nothing for me. Just a short square and missing the curves of the early 70s capris. Like most cars they get uglier each year and change completely.
