Oh that gum. It was Ok when I was a kid but no way after 44 years. You are a brave man for doing that. Too bad the cards had some dings and some were warped from that gum. I hope the Reggie was OK.

That gum was certainly something! Lol The cards were okay for the most part, but for sure the unopened pack was worth way more. That being said, it sure was fun to open anyway 😃

Ozzy was on the bottom corner of the Topps printing sheet and almost never got cut right. Always off center;

I have this entire set including Ozzie RC, I was 17 years old when I finally completed the set. My cards have never been graded or touched by human hands, wore white clean gloves when sleeving them all. I would say all my cards are mint condition except: Topps fault of not centering all cards: my Ozzie is good left to right but, more white on bottom than on top for the front and back. These clearly my favorite set because of the trivia Q & A on back, I also have some nice Topps Tiffany cards, light red or pink on the back. These 1979 were definitely one of my favorites. That's crazy to be chewing that gum, think about it: 1979 and, all them chemicals they put in just to preserve the gum for just 1 year. You can see what it does to cardboard on the back of that card, it's not just gum residue, it's got chemicals that leave that stain, lol😂
