This old 8 track tape contained almost two hours of audio recorded off of WEBN,102.7, Cincinnati in 1979, with Robin Wood on air. All songs have been edited out, but is recording does contain an interesting promo for listener stunts. Also mentioned is the upcoming WEBN Album Project 5, which dates the recording to sometime in 1979.
Unfortunately there was a lot of bleed from neighboring tracks, so, try to ignore it. I didn't realize it was that bad when I was transferring it to the laptop.

I got here trying to find any of the 1970's WEBN Home Grown albums. I loved WEBN and Robin Wood when I lived in Cincy 1973-1980. Loved listening to Frank Wood on Sunday mornings doing his classical music show. Loved the irreverent fake ads. Loved listening to "...the technicians tap-dancing across the tubes..." announcement as they shut down late on Sunday nights. Good times, indeed!

2:00 awesome to hear the crackling vinyl at the end of "Up the neck". The last time I heard vinyl on the radio was 1990. WTUE in Dayton would play "Forplay/Long time" by Boston and during the quiet section you could hear the crackles. WEBN got away from it in 89. I remember hearing a Fleetwood Mac tune stuck skipping. The DJ stopped the record and went to the next song.

Wow!! Who could ever forget that sexy low voice? Is she still with us? I still remember her coaxing me to all the great concerts at the Colosseum . What a time!

Glad you like this. She sounded great solo, but the Dawn Patrol with Robin and Eddie was a great show that lasted for years. Robin Wood owns and operates a flower shop in Cincinnati now. Seems like I hear her voice on a radio commercial occasionally, so it's possible she still records voiceovers.

Very interesting post. Its actually from the summer of 1980. I would be interested in hearing what songs are on there, and more of the DJ talk. I was from Dayton, but had a job delivering food in the Cincinnati area from 1979-83. And always listened to WEBN when I was in town.

I loved WEBN from this time period. This station was the backdrop for many, MANY nights working at the ol' 'Dirty' Dent Drive in, or at Papa Gino's, for many parties and boulevard rolls, for hangouts in the park or at Western Bowl (remember Doc Holliday's?) I loved how laid back the deejays always were. There was innuendo and jokes and stuff, but it was always real sedate, and not the obnoxious gooffest that pervaded the station the last time I heard it. Who remembers Sunday Morning classical with Frank Wood? Just before 'Bach meets Rock, and Rock takes over...'? Who remembers Alice's Restaurant at noon every Thanksgiving day? Who remembers the fictional Fool's Parade every March 32nd? Who remembers the special version of Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love? Who remembers Run Like Hell? Who remembers the Garment District Subdivision of the Committee for an Aesthetic Public Spectacle? Who remembers Brute Force Cybernetics and all their wonderful 'products'? Who remembers Tree Frog Beer? Who remembers Doctor Drive-Through? Who remembers WHOLE ALBUMS being played? Who remembers Fridays at 5:00pm.... 'It's Friday! FRIDAY! *FRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII* ..... DAY' (actually, that bit was borrowed from Murray Saul at WMMS in Cleveland, but 'EBN played it EVERY FRIDAY AT FIVE! Thank you for this, my friend. I needed to remember a better time.

EBN was unique! Like no other in the country. I also liked TUE when I was near Dayton. TUE had excellent music but wasn’t the unique package that EBN was. I didn’t realize how good it was until I listened to this.

I was working in Kansas City in the early 90s when we got a new, very nice-looking receptionist. She got to talking to me one day on my way into the office because she heard I'd lived in Ohio, too. I asked where she was from. "A little town you'd never heard of, Dent." When I described it, she was floored! I lived in Harrison, just down the road a bit. I loved that area and that time.

Frank was so cool...classical music on Sunday. It is all crap now! WEBN should have never sold to Jacor!...which ultimately, I-Heart bought them out.

I remember finding WEBN on the dial around 1973'ish. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, On The Run, was playing. I hadn't heard of the station, or of Pink Floyd before. After I heard the smooth talking DJs I was hooked for a long time, 20 + years.... The music took a turn, the smooth DJs left, and country took root again for a short. Then WOFX came along with classic rock.

I messaged the uploader a few years back but never heard from him, I wanted to do a transfer on a well maintained and aligned 8 track player I have and transfer this recording to digital without the cross talk.
