Talk about a major cleanup! The amount of noise removal that Topaz was able to achieve with this obvious over-the-air, non-cable recording is just jaw-dropping. See before/after screenshots here -- imgbox.com/g/894lkB65zg -- In addition, Topaz also upscaled the picture and doubled the framerate. Resolve was then used to brighten the very dark picture a great deal and to adjust the color. Last but not least, there was a very high and annoying whine to the audio which I was able to completely remove with Audacity by eliminating everything above 6000 Hz. Huge upgrade on this one! Source recording had all commercials removed, so none are present. My thanks to romelovesdan for providing the DVD files used for this project.

Man I wish this game featured some quality tight ends. All we got here was Ozzie, Casper, Caster, and Barber. Not bad.

I remember watching this game.....I was 9. These guys were like Gods to me. Oilers were my 2nd favorite team, because of Campbell, behind my Lions.

That's crazy good work Dave. The entire 1980 season of the Oilers that i've seen could use major work in this way. You did an amazing job here.

Sad there is not more preserved 1978-1980 Oiler games. Particularly, the state of the lack of games available and their poor quality of some of the 1979 season games for Houston is a blow to NFL History and fans of that era.

This was the year the Oilers finally overtook the Steelers, but as as Sam Rutigliano said about the Oilers, you knocked on the wrong door!

3:19 - Do you ever notice how today's NFL officials signal a touchdown somewhat slower compared to back in 1980?

There might not have been instant replay back then, but the human refs on the field were in much greater control of the game and of their own abilities. The league today manipulates the season via the refs, who are ungoverned and rely on New York to control things.

and by the way, his two missed FGs (47 and 30 yards) vs the Raiders in the playoffs in the Red Right 88 game helped lead to the Browns' loss, which culminated in the Mike Haynes INT@@davevolskysbackdoor5673 It sure was time to retire, I guess. Great career though.

These games were obviously not recorded by me. I can only work with what survives and how it was recorded way back when. VERY often a source does not contain the absolute FULL game. As I stated in the description, whoever recorded this way back when cut out those portions (and all commercials), possibly because they were recording on just a 2-hour tape (length of this is 121 minutes) and were trying to maximize space. I ALWAYS will leave in all commercials and updates if they are part of the source. In this case they were not.

Bum's BIG mistake. Never should have traded Pastorini away. Maybe Stabler was better in his prime, but he was past his prime by 1980. 30 INTs that year! The 80 Oilers were better than the 79 Oilers in just about every statistic BUT Stabler's rag arm killed them. Pastorini wasn't great, but he was a tough, resilient guy who still had a cannon arm that defenses had to respect, which opened up the field for Campbell. Maybe Campbell breaks OJ's record if Pastorini was still with the Oilers in 80 and maybe they win the division and finally get to the SB. Nobody in the AFC was very dominate that year.
