I love your stories for the models. My girlfriend had a silver one with the maroon velvet interior, so i already have my story for it lol. The hitch is actually pretty accurate for this car, i put hundreds on working for U-Haul back in the day

I built this as an exact replica of my '79. All I had to do was swap the headlights with a '79 promo and scrape off the marker lights. I have to agree that it is not the most beautiful car, and I never would have bought one brand new. I looked at some at the dealer and was not impressed. In 1989 I got one for free because it didn't run. I rebuilt the 267 V8 and have been driving it ever since. With American Torq Thrust wheels, the looks have grown on me. Obviously at 44 years old it stands out, but so does my '88 LS and '67 Chevelle. I have built exact replicas of them also.

I’ve been hoping you’d build this! You did a great job! I built this model back in the 80s when it first came out but mine was a lighter blue like a LeMans blue. I was a teenager back then. I don’t know what happened to that model. I’m going to sound nit picky but this model is slightly inaccurate. MPC didn’t notch the fender corner at the front where the turn signals are located like in the real car. I used a hobby knife back then to whittle a little bit of plastic away before I painted it. Anyway, I am so happy that this is back! I’d love to see a return of the 67-70 Eldorado model kits, even the Toronados, too!

I hear that whole gang invades a 7-11, buyin' a round of pop for the house, then each one drives off to work on their latest build. Sounds cool. Oh, my mom had one of these, same blue on blue. You nailed it - except her chopper was red.

Was in the Army until July of '80 built 3 kits while I was in and this was one of them it was released as Wheeler Dealer or something like that painted it like the box art I still have it. My mom had a '79 Monte Carlo (bought it new) it was white with light blue pinstripes and blue interior, same color you used on your build. My younger brother was still in high school he was a hellion back then. He used to take that car and go cruise'n on Broadway Ave in our town and get some beer and chick's until one day when he rear-ended somebody so hard it totaled that car. It was only a little over a year old.

I really feel sorry for you, if it was an ‘86 or ‘87 with the inter cooler and in decent condition those are worth $40-60k today. My Mom had her 1985 Regal Limited stolen TWICE!! First time in ‘86, it had about 9,000 miles on it, and it was found 2 weeks later in repairable condition. The second time in 1988. Never found. Insurance wrote it off after 30 days. Problem with all 1979-87 G-Bodies is that they were very easy to steal and among the most stolen vehicles in American automobile history. Because so many components were interchangeable between the cars in every division and they were simple to work on and disassemble/reassemble.

What do you think is best. Gray or brown primer.
@kenswonger47382 жыл бұрын
for me if the body's white.i use a flat. black or a gray primer for the body.but most the time I use blue for the regular coat.
@beltfed46242 жыл бұрын
Gray primer generally allows a color to remain genuine, whereas brown primer makes the color appear darker. Black primer for metallics (makes them pop), and white primer for yellow, pink, and all neon colors (it brightens them).

I built this one back in 2018. It was the re-release Round2 Class Action Monte Carlo with the blue body with silver graphics on the box art. It went together well. I used bigger wheels with low profile tires. I wanted to replicate the Hot Wheels vehicle Montezooma.
@chassegallerie29102 жыл бұрын
Really good build and kit. The French on those boxes is always funny. So, in French, a Chopper, as in the motorcycle isn't translated. It will stay a Chopper. HOWEVER, since R2's translation team or person use Google Translate, they don't know that and they used the word "Hachoir" which is actually the proper name of the knife. Ended up being a joke between a couple of us French speaking modelists that this motorcycle was for men who wanted a quick vasectomy! lol I also noticed from your vid that they used the word "ordinaire" (ordinary) to translate stock, when the proper translation would be "de série" or "non modifiée" and they used the word "coustume" which is an old French word refering to the word costume (word means same in both French and English) but in the feminine tense (if this can make sense, you guys don't give genres to objects as you have the word "it" for them, which is something we don't have in French.)

Round 2 is releasing the Lenny Pond 74 Malibu NASCAR kit, probably the closest you will find unless you get a resin or 3D printed body from the aftermarket. I too, would love to see them tool up a factory stock version of the mid 70's Malibu and any of it's factory optioned trims.

Nice job on a pathetic subject. That may be a 262 cube v8, lame squared. I probably pinstriped about 500 of those cars for dealers back in the ‘80s, grew to hate them! The burgundy interiors always faded to a putrid ‘fresh bruise’ purple and the plating on the plastic flaked off. No thanks!
@rodnokken77592 жыл бұрын
My Dad gave me his 80 Grand Prix white over burgundy. I know exactly what you mean. I hated the fadeaway rear quarters. This generation never looked right until the wedge shape of 81.

FYI....the fancy pinstripes and designs are garbage. Worst I've ever worked with. The kit itself is fine. No problems there.
