I remember watching it live. The Russian comentator shouted all the time: Svetlana Varganova, Svetlana Varganova... Nyet... Lina Kachushyte....

@@jonasoskinis7464 Because it was almost sure that Varganova was about to win.... Lena won only because she lived in Soviet Lithuania: this sport was one of the the strengths of Soviet sports’ discipline. How many Olympic medals have we seen since Lithuania became “free and independent”? I am from Georgia, and it was the same there: when Georgia was with Russia, it was strong, visible and successful. Now it’s a degraded, unknown country...

@@Soundofmusic777 You forgot about Rūta Meilutytė, she won in London 2012 Olympic games gold in 100m breaststroke, and basketball in Lithuania was strong how in during Soviet Union and strong too now in Lithuania free and independent.

I'm proud of Lina because she is from Lithuania!

She is from Soviet Lithuania, where this kind of sport was a leading one.

@@Soundofmusic777 Lithuania was in ocupation of Soviet Union, but it was Lithuania, only russians and comunists of Lithuania called Soviet Lithuania, people of Lithuania called only Lithuania, because I lived in Lithuania in this time.

@@egidijuskernazickas6591 Under the "occupation" Lithuania was thriving: it had its own industry, its own poets and writers, its musicians and film makers. And educated people left and right. And everyone spoke Russian perfectly. Now half of Lithuanian people have left the country and the "free and independent" Lithuania is dependent in every way -- from economy, industry and culture to being able to make its own political decisions: like many others in Europe, it is now the 51st State of the United States. Only with no voting right. It does what it is told to do by uncle Sam. People have forgotten Russian, but they never learned proper English either...

@@egidijuskernazickas6591 another Baltic people who think that in USSR he was under oppression. You just very impudent because you lived better than all other Soviet Republics despite your very small share of the whole Soviet GDP

Do you have any videos from 1980 Summer Olympic Games swimming with Barbara Krause?
@Parker52812 жыл бұрын
Yes. I just found it on here. Simply type Barbara Krause. When I did that, it pulls up her 100 free race. Have yet to see the 200 free race though; if you find it, let me know.
