1980's Toyota Pickup Honkless Horn Fix

Finally did a permeant fix on the horn in my truck. Was considering doing a horn switch at first but found this was easier and also kept the truck more original

Brings back memories. I had an '83 Toyota 4X4 pickup with the horn issue. I fixed mine using a similiar size thin washer behind the contact ring as a shim to bring the contact ring furthur out. Ahh the days of DIY fixes with no air bags.

If you do not want to replace the horn pin....just take an empty 22 shell and put over pin...now you have contact.

first thing i noticed when you pulled that horn pin out . . is that you are not supposed pull it all the way out. there is supposed to be a '' E - clip '' pressed on to the back of the pin to keep it in place. . . and not be able to pull it out. plus the terminal needs to be squeezed a little bit to ensure good contact, [ also add a little bit of die-electric grease to the terminal to give it very good contact and moisture free, not to much or when it gets hot ( on hot days inside the vehicle ) the grease will drip causing a short and messing up everything ] . and now for the rest of the video . lol, so you did put the e-clip on it. good. should have used die electric grease on the horn pin head , do not use your finger , use a tooth pick to add it to the horn pin head . will last a long time and not have to get another horn pin or contact plate for a very long time. good video .

Yeah what year is that truck? I have the exact same set up on my 88 pickup 3.0 except I don’t have the tachometer. A great video nonetheless

can you help ? my horn on my 86 Toyota pickup isn't working & isn't sure if its the button or the horn . what do you think ? i push the button and nothing but at the same time its the original horn from the factory & isn't sure how to remove the horn wiring plug could you show how to remove and change the horn if you still the the original.

Isn't 19mm the same as your oil drain plug? You may want to keep that socket handy. Nice repair, though.

What year is that truck? My 1989 doesn't have those "fancy" buttons (not that there is ANYTHING fancy about old Toyota trucks. But mine is 100% rust free so that's sorta fancy?). I'm sure it's same configuration though so thanks. Oh! And yes 19mm is odd for almost any Japanese car. They are almost ALWAYS even numbers. German cars are opposite and use odd number metrics. I literally had 2 separate tool boxes I carried. One all even numbered metric for my DATSUN (NISSAN for you kids out there, lol!) and one odd numbered for my VW.

Good video and I'm going to perform this surgery on my 87 Toyota asap. And...I'm so glad you DONT talk like a deformed millenial putting emphasis on every last syllable which is disgustING!
