Great win. What a team Port had. Might have troubled many VFL sides as well.

3 years later a West Adelaide side would have too.

@@dits791 1983 Westies side was a ripper. Followed them a lot with my father in law Reggie Ellis, who played a few games for them back in the day.

@@dits791 you might know my mate and former workmate Ian Goed and his lads. They go to most Westies games. Die hard Bloods. When I was a lad we played Westies under 17s at Richmond oval al part of a Riverland combined team. We slept in the club rooms and went to the Grand Final next day, it was 1973, Bays V North. Great weekend, West Adelaide footy club made our meals and looked after us. Great times.

@@donjohns4878 Can't say i know your workmate personally but the name sounds familiar. After 16 years of service, iv'e seen a lot of people come and go, meet a lot of people on the terraces but it's hard to remember everyone. Your mate probably knows of me and has seen me collecting footies behind the goals during warmups.

Love seeing Keith Thomas a Norwood legend surrounded in Port Adelaide Gear. I know he was Ports CEO at the time but before he played for the redlegs he was a passionate Port supporter as a kid 😅

But we turned the tables on em in '84 and from 5th again. First team anywhere in Australia to win from 5th.

Advanced Australia Fair did not become the official national anthem in the country until 1984.

Pffft. That Brisbane team would have drubbed em by 25 goals. The wobbles got lucky in 02 didn't they?
