I worked for Nordstrom in the original store, mid 90’s, and was there for the big move into their newly renovated store, the old Frederick Nelson building. From childhood Santa pictures to bustling holiday shopping seasons and everything in between. Downtown used to be a fun and exciting place to work, shop, watch movies, eat and explore. So much so that the era of department stores seems like a past dream. The number of closed and boarded up store fronts is astounding but not surprising. Downtown Seattle is now an empty shell of its former heyday.

@@Skier10 I’ve lived in Washington state/PNW since I was only a few months old (I’m 53 now) and as a former stadium/attraction worker, I can say that Seattle has been losing its individuality and going downhill for years. I would sadly have tourists come up to me and ask why so many homeless people are so visible. This would be while they’re going to a concert or a game, or up high in an observatory where many more tents and campers are out along just about any road and freeway underpass. I also used to work in the Columbia Tower (the tallest one in Seattle; higher than the Space Needle) for a couple years; an observatory is up there - and during that time view of the Space Needle was slowly covered up by now what is the 2nd tallest Seattle building.
