Over Easy (the show Hugh Downs won the Emmy for) aired on PBS from 1977 to 1982.

Richard Simmons had a daily syndicated talk show from 1980-83, called the RIchard Simmons show, it focused mostly on health and exercise. I think SHelley Smith is the celeb clue giver in the Pyramid WInner's Circle, back when she was a co-star on the short-lived sitcom the Associates. Shelley said on $25K Pyramid in 1986 the first time she played Pyramid that she played against David Letterman. $20K Pyramid was of course off the air in 1981, but the syndicated $50K Pyramid came and went in 1981. $25K Pyramid won again in SUmmer 1989 for best game show despite having been cancelled shortly after the nomination period for the Daytime EMmys.

It's so long ago that David Letterman had a morning show as well and it was retool and put a night by NBC In February of 1982 becoming his late night show. But between 1980 and 1981 The show was on daytime as The David Letterman show.

Peter Marshall mentioned at the end of his acceptance speech that he hoped Allan Ludden was watching. Not sure when these awards were held(in the spring?), but Ludden was already very ill because he passed away in June '81, so probably not long after these awrds were held. Marshall also mentioned(probably because Hollywood Squares was going into its last season at the time)Cliff Arquette, who died in '74, but too bad he didn't also mention the great Wally Cox, who had passed away in '73.

The scenes are hot!! ....gh best was the susan baldwin murder...robert and holly becoming attracted to one another..the promethous disc story....god i miss when soaps were good!!! ....bty if u a current gh watcher susan is jasons mother..the murder story mencions jason alot..
