Love the Engine...I just bought the same one £250 ...ive just sent it away for a we sercice tho the guy said it wad running great....Found a local gut who does servicing for £30 a engine up to 10hp....And hell do my Yam 30hp for £40....Fantastic price...Think ive found a new friend....Cant wait to try kut the 7.5 Evinrude on the water...Thanks for the video.x

I bought one of these for my dad years ago, its another engine that got away from me..sister got it after he pasted...would plane the alum boat with both of us in it and as you said and idle all day too..lots of rainbows died a violent death..because of this engine..

So a friend and I were out on the lake yesterday with my 12 foot Gregor aluminum boat. Last time when out with my nephew I turned my GPS on and it had a speedometer with it. The boat topped out a 6MPH. Well this time for some odd reason after stopping the boat and fishing for 30 minutes, we went to move to another spot and the motor wouldn't turn over. Seemed like fuel wasn't being delivered properly so I elevated the tank on the back bench seat, I also reseated the fuel hose.

The 10 blade is getting hard to find, i think the best thing i can tell you is get a new water pump kit for it and that comes with all the part's you will need, and you can get at a Mercury outboard dealer, the problem is that the water pump housing is deeper on the motors with a 10 blade impeller.

Well top speed all depends on size of boat, load,how the load is distributed,and boat hull design. So it way to hard to say.

There was this knob near the kill button. I think this may have enabled me to travel at higher speeds since I rotated that knob for the first time and after that I was flying

Just found this exact make and model of motor in my shed I thought was junk but turns out the shell or cover thingy was just painted btown for duck hunting but all the internals are pristine!! very excited for this summer. I'm new to boats so what does the gas tank I'm going to need look like? honestly I pulled it out today and looked for a tank on the thing for 5 or so minutes until I caught my mom laughing at me! hahah

Another thought; how deep do you have the motor in the water when testing? Are you testing in a bucket on the boat or with muffs?

Are you using a 10 blade or a 6 blade impeller in your motor? the 6.6 need's the 10 blade one or you will need a 1974 up housing.

Replaced the fuel hose nozzles. Noticed with very close examination that the nozzles near the metal clip while holds the nozzle to the motor had a hairline crack in it. Also the other end near the gas tank saw the same thing. Thought it was a bad fuel bulb, not the bulb gets hard and fuel is delivered correctly to carb. At the same time I rebuild the carb, and put new spark plugs in it. Once primer bulb is hard it starts on the first few pulls.

Since rebuilding the carb - did this in December - haven't been out in the water and my reg has expired. Once I renew it I'm gonna take it out.

I just bought a 12 ft Gregor boat with this motor on it. Motor seemed fine until it would bog down at wide open throttle. I replaced the fuel hose running from the gas tank and this enabled the motor to run WOT. The problem I am having is that at WOT my boat doesn't seem to go as fast as this video shows. Any suggestions as to why this is happening? I was thinking maybe a prop issue.

Well that does sound like a fuel problem. maybe tank,hose, fuel pump, or carb.

troubleshooting motor run great at slow speed one third throttle open it up it starts to cut out every 10 second it tries to reach higher rpm but keeps on cutting out with attitude 7.5 evinrude 1983 new plugs, gas tank,gas line,got any ideals

Went out this past weekend and tried my GPS to clock the speed the boat goes. It now tops out at 12MPH, does anyone know if this is the true top speed of this motor? It was going pretty fast, I am pretty happy now that tightening the fuel hose at the gas tank may have fixed the issue.

I thought maybe it was the weight of my friend up in front that was keeping the front end down in the water and the boat straight when opening up WOT but as we were going to put the boat on the trailer I took the boat out for a joyride. I was spinning donuts at a high rate of speed, then I took off out in the water to see just what might happen. At first the front end lifted in the air as normal on take off. But after a few seconds the boat leveled out and began to hydroplane with just me in it.

Yeah buddy, those engines had alot of power...And that one looks/sounds like it has no running time at all on it...Don't see beauties like that here in the salt water...

Cont... After doing this the boat was flying. Before the boat wouldn't even hydroplane and now it does. Hmmm, I guess maybe it was the fuel hose or maybe something is blocking up the tank.

my dad had this motor, great motor till somebody rear ended the boat with the motor on it while it being towed. the motor was then written off and replaced with a 2009 johnson 8hp (2 stroke)

yep. and because its was a van that crashed into it, the front of the trailer bent forward and into the bumper of dads car and left a tennis ball size hole spank in the middle.. the minivan driver being at fault paid for a new bumper :S

hey iv just bought one exact same motor. she only idles on full choke and dies when I increase power. Iv replaced plugs and fuel lines and the fuel pump is good. any ideas what might be wrong? thanks dude

i have a question i have the same motor but 2 years new and its johnson and the stop switch dosent work it stops when you pull the choke out. any ideas to what is rong with the stop switch
