OK I have this exact same carb. I can't get the bike to rub when not on choke. I definitely need alot of coaching with this project if possible

Well, I can point to basics here. If it runs choke only, you have compression, spark and fuel. This would seem to be an idle circuit problem that the choke circuit is overcoming. The carbs need to be spotlessly clean. There are small passages in all the carbs. The carbs must also be vented correctly to run off choke. A few other things. These are cold blooded engines, the will almost always need to be cold started full choke for several minutes. The first thing I would do is disassemble carbs and chemically or ultrasonically clean all parts and jets. Good luck, your close. Happy wrenching!

This is going to be such a rookie question but can I ask what you referred to to figure out how to get them off the bike, it seems like the shop manual I got seems to assume I already know how to do that.

Only one book to use, the Kawasaki service manual. They are out there in old book or reprint. Every system and procedure is in the genuine Kawasaki manual. Happy wrenching!

Thank you much for your videos!! These are super helpful. Just to clarify, the paper clip should barely slide through that little notch in the back of the slide on the engine side of the carb? Creating a super small passage for idle

Thanks. A lot of folks are still loving these old Kaws! Be careful with carb slides. Some people drill the, but I wouldn't. The carbs on my 550 were not CV or constant velocity carbs with a spring and a diaphragm. The passage should be clear any varnish or debris. I do not know of a specific measure on that carb slide hole, just make sure it's clean. Happy wrenching!!
