Luton had a really decent team acquitted themselves admirably in their first season in the top flight. Won a lot of admirers for their attacking style of play

Luton,so good as second Division champions 1981-2.a few teams scored five or so at Luton, when they went up.became a fantastic side for three seasons(1984-7).what a time!

There were 3 commentators at this game Brian Moore for LWT, Gerry Harrison for Anglia and Martin Tyler for Granada

Was Luton in both LWT and Anglia's catchment areas then?

Ashley Grimes later played for Luton Town, he was one of MU underrated players in the 80s even during the 1982/83 season when Steve Coppell was in and out of the side due to his later career-ending knee injury.

He wasn't anywhere near good enough for United. Luton were ideal for his limited ability.

I've been going through as many 1982/83 season games I can find on YT as ITV don't seem to want to show this season after they started showing archive matches during covid. Also watched any MOTD form this period. I wonder if the current Luton side will be good enough to stay in the premier league? A bit unlucky losing 4-3 to Arsenal the other night.

David Pleat was uncomplimentary about Frank Stapleton and Robbo after this match.

scherben that image of pleat running on the pitch at Maine road in his lovely brown suit at the end of the 82/83 season is priceless!! I’m sure robbo and Stapleton were laughing when they saw that!!
