1982 Laser 917-D

In October 2013 I purchased this 1982 Laser 917-D kit car as a non-running project. After several months of tinkering, on 28 April 2014 it finally left the garage for the first time under its own power since the last owner parked it in 2003.
Chassis: 1968 VW Beetle
Body: Elite Enterprises 917 Body No. 443
Transmission: 1974 VW Close-ratio 4-spd manual
Engine: 1980 Mazda 1.2L 12A Rotary

My son owned it in California. Whatever exhaust system you build for it will need to be supported because it glows red hot and will bend and droop from being red hot.....

Nice Laser 917. Nice sound . What engine and exhaust is in it ? I have a Laser 917 that I haven't started in 10 years also. I've been thinking about getting it back on the road .

@@sillylittlefellafr I found it on Craigslist by accident while shopping for a cold-air intake kit. It was in a garage an hour away where it had been languishing for 12 years!
