A 1982 regular season tilt in Greensboro between UNC and Georgia. I do not own or profit from this video.

I was a 12 year old kid and was there to watch this game in person, my first college basketball game seen in person. Played on Sunday February 14, 1982. Reason I remember the person who had the ticket stayed home to watch the Daytona 500. Valentines Day 1982. This Carolina team went on to win the national championship and I saw this great UNC group play in person. Great to grow up in NC in those days.

Going to this game was my birthday gift. Actually got to go to give games that year. This one, southern California real early in the season also got to the regional finals against Nova in the only game I have ever seen in Reynolds and I was there for the final four in new Orleans

Stating the obvious here, you could have a great starting 5 with Jordan, Worthy,Perkins, Fleming and Wilkins.

I am 61 and was just out of HS myself back then playing ball at the next level. Back in the early 80s Dominique Wilkins was more highly thought of than Michael Jordan. Of course, by the time Jordan graduated and went off to the Bulls he was an outstanding player, but Dean's system necessarily kept Jordan limited in his offense. But you could tell Jordan was special. Nique was also two years older in this video...Maryland had a player named Len Bias that would come along next year that might have been as good, if not better, than both of them in college. First team All American, two time All ACC, ACC Player of the Year, and chosen by the Celtics in the first round...most people know what happened after that. What might have been...BTW, I loved Al McGuire!

5 of the 10 starters for the teams were from New York. You just don't see that anymore. New York basketball has really crumbled in producing the hoards of talent they once did.

How did Dean Smith let Dominique Wilkins get out of the state of North Carolina?

Georgia got them back the following year when it really counted in the Elite 8 of the 83 tournament.
