The first sold in Europe, yes, but the Mercedes 300 Turbo Diesel was already sold in the US a bit earlier.

The original 60s Toyota's that had column locks had the key on the left like that.

The V6 was turbine smooth but also thirsty, and with the small fuel tank it saw plenty fuel stops. Rust and lack of service claimed the majority of them.

maybe the US 604's have A/C.I am pretty sure the European ones have climatization, which isn't A/C

TheMrBennito: All USA spec 604s came with AC as Standard..the snowflakes are the give-away. It (fresh-air and AC) only blew-out the top-vents since there was no blend-door. Turbo Diesel 604s were only available 1981-1984...robust engine it was but the (USA spec) car weighing 3,450+lbs with nobody in it....it was slow as hell with the 5 speed or ZF-3Speed slushbox. 604 V6s with the GM 3-speed slush or Peugeot 4/5 Speed manual were pretty gutless to...............and got horrific gas mileage even at idle. It did not help the car was overpriced (and had too much of low grade plastics in the interior scattered about) and Peugeot Dealer Customer Service was not great back then;which is why it bombed not only in the USA but every other part of the globe. You could buy a Mercedes 240D back then for what Peugeot and Dealers charged for the 604. Turbo Diesels were the only versions offered in the USA after the late 1980 and early 1981 Model Year.

Maybe at this point, but I've seen diesel Peugeots with a half million miles on them. Over twenty years ago though...

What research evidence has your majesty got? Mine has done 1/2 million with original engine, gearbox and most all else.

Selected engines and transmission from 505 turbodiesel production at this point. Very reliable. My ‘82 is rusty and out of service but not before covering 600,000 miles over its first 32 years. (That’s estimated since the speedometer/odometer stopped working at 559,000 miles.) it needs a cylinder head now and the car is very rough. Nonetheless if I put a fresh battery in it, starts right up and wants to go for a ride! It will quickly overheat because of the head unfortunately. Everyone purchasing a car in 1982 should be so lucky to have one this reliable and long lived.
