Tracy did not learn on clay to cheat to one side expending too much energy returning to the middle allowing her opponent to hit behind her .

Tough loss for tracy losing 6-4 in third set to Hana at French and is open Then lost to king in the third set . A evert vs Austin sf at Wimbledon would’ve been a great match
@lenwelch21952 жыл бұрын
Hana Chris Martina all lost the first set in their first Wimbledon final 6-2( Hana ) 6-0 ( evert ) 6-2 ( Martina ) so that’s understandable . Forget and move on

Just like Evonne, Hana was so unpredictable that it was difficult to get any rhythm against her.

Ironically, Hana was perhaps most consistent at the French Open. She failed to make seeding only once from 1979-1986 and that was a QF loss to Khode in 85. Her wins over Evert in 81, Austin in 82, and Graf in 86 are underrated.

Good point

Graf was a baby in 86, and Austin was already on decline in 82. Her 81 win over Evert was monstrous, but she doesn't have another even close to that one.

Andrea Jaegar gave a recent interview to 'The Independent' in the UK. She made some shocking allegations. She said as a young teen, she had suffered from serious and repeated sexual harassment from a female WTA official and when she complained to the WTA, they made threats against her and her family. She also recalled another incident when she'd been given alcohol at a WTA event while still a young teen, and another WTA official had driven her home and tried to take advantage. Andrea said it was one of the reasons why she retired so young. Absolutely appalling stuff. The WTA has so far said absolutely nothing, and neither have any of the other players who were around in that era.

Andrea Jaeger and Margaret Court are both religious fundamentalists who have complained about the presence of lesbians years after they left the tour and found Jesus. I will believe them any claims of abuse when it is.alleged.and proven in a courtroom. Until then, I will chalk it up to homophobia and sour grapes, especially on Jaeger's part. I don't know how she ever played such good tennis with such a big chip on her shoulder.

Where was her mother or father during all this. Austin and Evert's mothers were by their side in their teen years on each tour stop(tournament) Andrea's parents failed here, a lot for any young girl to go through and handle.

@@RachelDavisMatthews Perhaps she was intimidated by the threats. Who knows. It seems that the debacle around the 1983 final was related to it. It seems her father had heard about these rumours and had spoken to her the night before the final, saying that if they were true, he would pull her out of the final the next day in protest. Andrea was so ashamed that she ran out of the house and ended up visiting Martina Navratilova's house.

Andrea was an odd individual. I would be suspicious of that. She definitely had some issues. Never heard of any of this going on by any of the women's tennis players.

you hate to question such claims, especially as a person sitting from afar, but I always thought there was "something" about her, particularly when she claimed she purposefully tanked the Wimbledon final because she knew how much Martina wanted to win. If you see her expression at the net at the end of that final, she seemed p*ssed; not the face of a person who purposefully lost. Never believed her then, don't believe her now.

Pretty sure announcer called Tracy "Chrissie" at the end of the salty interview. Tracy has said she couldn't believe how Evert got upset after a loss, but Evert was never this curt in an interview.
