Oh my goodness. I stumbled upon this video and the memories came flooding back. 1981 I raced Schoolboy A on a Kx-80, I wee never lost a race except for a few DNF because of flat tires. The YZ-80 was faster that year but the KX had way better bottom end. I remember a race where our local track looked like this, like a big ole wet bar of soap. Talk about separating the men from the boys. In 82 I raced 125 JR on a Yamaha YZ-125 and won every race but one, had a flat tire but still pulled a second. 83 I moved up to 250 and raced a Suzuki RM-250. Those were wonderful years and such great memories with my Dad who supported me whole heartedly. Thank you for posting this.

Really didn't matter if you were fast or last. This was fun.

I loved riding natural tracks like these, it was a shame that in the nineties no one wanted to ride them anymore, preferring more super cross type tracks. One of my favourites was farleigh castle, I rode a 490 Maico there

This is definitely 1982 at least. You can see some very early water pumpers. Great vid! I had to lay off motocross during this time as I had gone on active duty in the service. My 1980 Can-am was stored in a barn and I’d ride the heck out of it when I came home on leave. And that song by the Human league was playing summer 1982. Now at 58 years of age with 3 vintage 250’s in my stable for sanity. Keep riding!

I thought i packed up in it 1980 and thought that was my last year. But given the water cooled bikes it may have been 1981. I'll need to check.... the 2 day meets seem always to have terrible weather...

This was absolutely fantastic! It appears that Honda is a bit under represented, but I remember the KX80 was the bike to be on in 1982. Im 53 years old and still lusting after a 1982 KX80!!!!!!! Great stuff!

Yeah i can relate to you mate. I just turned 55 and i raced my 1981 Kx80 in the juniour class here in New Zealand. The Yam YZ80 j in 82 was the bike to beat here at the time but the KX stood its ground well. I am restoring an 81 kx80 slowly at the moment just to bring back some of the memories and nostalgia. As you mentioned.. This video is realy great.

Dad took some great film over those years. I hardly remember it now. It certainly brought home the risks involved. All I really remember is spending a lot of time on my arse it was so muddy.....

@@nickjenkins5609 I recall one of you was a scrambler and another a trials rider. Dad must have known your dad I guess. I remember coming up to a trial near Barbrook once when dad had a montesa cota and fancied trying to compete on it but could barely get to the start of the sections! After a long lay off I got back into bikes over 10 years ago and have been on trail bikes since. Shame we cannot ride across the chains anymore but there are still some lovely lanes around Lynton. You still ride? .
