I can't believe this was 35 years ago!! Seems like yesterday. I had a $100 exacta, Cam Fella, It's Fritz. Cam Fella had the heart of a champion. Reminds me of On The Road Again for some reason. Great talent and tons of heart. It's Fritz had an 1/8 brush that nobody could match back then, and if Marty Allen had sat around the turn, waited a bit in the stretch before moving out, he may have won the race. But he shot his load and was all done at the 1/8th pole.

I was a senior at Nutley High in NJ and was a huge Cam fan. Was there to see it live, still brings a tear to my eyes to see all that heart Cam had. There were more Fritz fans but I was Team Cam.

Amazing. You can actually see Cam Fella kick into another gear three quarters of the way down the stretch! That horse knew where the finish line was. He might be the gutsiest horse ever. I remember watching this race at Greenwood, simulcast from The Big M.

@@parkerbohnn An old associate of mine, Mike Firestone, owned Lomar Lee. Lomar only won on the front end, and only as high as a 20,000 claimer. 1980-81.

Cam Fella merely took a snippet of rest behind It's Fritz. The race was his all along. Not to take anything away from It's Fritz. He was a great one, too.

Looked so beat but Cam Fella was a Champion. That horse was the greatest IMO.
