I own one of these and it's very performant for a early-gen diesel, without that aggravating "monster truck tubro whine" - why i love it, it's got power but is very understated about having to be a diesel turbo. Excellent biofuel vehicles, and you can still ride in style.

Plus you just have to grin every time you touch the key and that 5-cylinder springs to life and you hear that lovely note. You don't even have to see to know it's a Mercedes. I was always a BMW bigot, but i love driving this car. Road trip to fetch it was made in s Chevy venture, expecting this to lose badly at the gas station with the cost of Diesel fuel. Nope, won each time..

This car has to be the cleanest and best kept 300SD on the planet. Mary Ann, this car is everything but fast or quick though. It'll run for another 300000 miles - no sweat.

I have a 1983 W126 300SD with 267,000 miles on it. I’m the 3rd owner. It’s Lapis Blue with gray leather. Runs like a top!!! Just change the oil every 2,500 miles and get 27 mpg. No cruise or A/C right now but everything else is basically perfect.
